    Hey guys,

Anyone recommend a shop or someone to install a set of front 5100s on my 2nd gen in CT. The gold old bad back prevents me from doing most stuff without a lift and I don't have access to a lift anymore

Depends on where you are in CT but there are a number of us in Western MA that do installs. Is it only the shock swap or is it leaf packs, UCA's or ECGS bushing as well?

Just going to do the 5100s set at the .85 setting with a 1/4 spacer(1/2 lift) on each side to give me a bit over an inch of front lift. Plus 1 inch lift blocks for the back. I already did the rear shocks a few weeks ago.
I don't mind driving a bit for quality work.

ECGS is something I want to do at some point but with only 1 1/4 front lift I think I should be fine for a while.

I'm sure some folks here, myself included, would be happy to help/install for you if you're not set on a shop! Not a professional, but I did 5100s on my truck. Most of us work for beer

that is pretty much something that can be done very easily in a driveway with a bunch of guys like ourselves that do installs on a continuous basis. Would you be open to that or willing to drive to Western mass for something like that? I hate to have you go to a shop that is going to charge you $100 an hour for something that a bunch of guys that work on her trucks continuously can do for a fraction of the price.

100% cool with me. It kills me not to be able to do the work as I have a fully stocked tool box to pretty much do anything mechanically related. Its just my back doesn't allow me to work on the ground anymore.

That sounds about right to me. By "coupler height" do you mean the top of the ball? I've measured my trailers front and back from bottom of frame rail to ground to find level and they are about 14" so 6-17" to top of the ball sounds right if your coupler is in line with the frame. Most are but some are not.

I have a utility trailer, boat trailer, and jetski trailer. All are the same height coupler. I have about a 2.5" lift and 33 inch tires (so an additional inch off the ground over stock plus the 2.5" lift). I use a 5" drop hitch for all 3 trailers. You may only need a 2" drop if you are stock height.

Foam cannon: I got a cheap one last year. I wanna say it was under $20 on Amazon.
I really like it. If the vehicle is super dirty I foam it up, powerwash off the big dirt, foam again, hit the whole thing with mitt and just a few mitt rinses to drop out dirt, and powerwash clean. With this method (and a soap like rain ex's sheeting formula or similar) I no longer chamois dry and still achieve a very clean, almost water-spotless finish. This allows me to not use the 2 bucket method, one bucket only with grit guard. Significantly easier/faster with solid results. If you don't use the mitt, it will still have a thin dirt film in my experience.

March wasn't so bad this year wrt weather. Lots of 50, 60 and even a few 70 degree days. And really not much in the way of snow.

You might want to try Truck Toyz in Rocky Hill. I haven't used them, but I hear they do good work. Another shop in Rocky Hill is Hick's garage.

    Good luck!
