fox related, one winter, and nothing but rust, never buy fox again.. yea we have salty roads, but these look horrible after 6 months.. like they never were plated or anodized,, were washed many times thru the winter, sprayed with lubricate, a few times ..

I hope someone has a decent prevention for this. I'm moving to the northeast before next winter

 

I live in the rust best of the nation with heavy salt during the cold winter months and avoided the expensive Fox suspension for the sole reason of what you have provided in the pics.

I coated my Fox rears with plastidip, partly to deter theft and partly to protect the finish. I even did a topcoat with a cold can so the finish would be ugly.
I'll peel them after a few months to see how well it worked. #stealthfox #leemelone

 

Thanks, I managed to pull it off with help from people on the forum and some YouTube reference. Only thing I didn't do myself was the cerakote.

 

I'm having a hard time understanding this. I just assembled my coilovers with 14" 650# springs.
Site says that I need: Min installed length: 11-3/4

I'm guessing the amount of preload I'll need prior to installation and my current spring measurements are:
11-1/2" Driver
11-7/8" passenger

What is the purpose of this recommended length ?
Ie. what happens if it's shorter?
what happens if it's longer?

I'm a few beers in atm.. I'm thinking this is something really simple and don't know why I can't figure this out haha

 

Is my driver too compressed I'll get coil bind?

 

Figured it out. I will bind.
Coilovers have 4.89" of travel.
With the fully extended length I've set (11-1/2) minus the travel, I will be at the exact length of the spring when fully compressed.
= Bind!
I'll back off the collar another 1/4" and I'll be good to go!

 

@zippo88 are you measuring installed on the truck or on the bench?

I feel your pain man. The resi fittings are just bulk parts that fox uses. You can wire wheel them and paint them..
The steel coilover body on the other hand.. I wasn't impressed either. They should have a much better coating on them.
Get them rebuilt and apply the appropriate coatings for your region.. I bet your frame isn't looking too hot either.

 

I’m only asking cause once you get those on the truck, you’ll probably want to make sure your sag is good. Always set your sag/spring adjustment with the static weight of the vehicle on the coil overs.

I'm really hoping I have enough weight on these. There's really not much room to back them off. I'm so used to seeing loaded 600# 13" coilovers that are showing over 2+" of threads!!

I've got sliders, full 3/16" steel skids and a slimline bumper with winch so I'm sure I'll be ok.
Excited to get these back on. Driving around this whole winter with 29s and 3rd gen suspension, plus no skids has been strange. Got so used to the truck with 32.5s and foxes. Although, It seems to be a little more peppy with the smaller tires.

 

Just make sure they aren't longer than 21 inches when on the truck and loaded. If they are, you have too much preload and will limit your downtravel = shitty ride.
