I have been entertaining the thought of putting a 2JZ in my 99 tacoma 2.4 2wd. I was wondering if anybody has some insight or a video on the process and recommendations on best parts to go with for suspension and rear and etc. Was really thinking of a all wheel drive version

You're going to pay $7-10 grand for the engine alone.

GTE or GE? If you want the biturbo, you’re gonna have to import one from a Soarer or a Supra because they were relatively rare here - keep in mind the GTE will cost upwards of $5k alone. Or if you want a GE get an IS300 parts car so you can have all the wiring and support systems needed.

The GTE and GE were both mated to the A340E so theoretically you can bolt it to another A340 platform transmission. However, seeing you have a 99 2WD, you probably have the A43D column shift. You’d probably want the A340E. Or an R150 platform if going manual.

There’s no videos or process to this because it’s rather involved and difficult. I hope you like wiring, welding, and fabricating because that’s all you’re going to be doing. Stock engine and trans mounts won’t work, neither will any of the wiring.

If you want power, just get a turbo kit. It’s 1000x cheaper and easier.

Yes indeed I have one in a Supra and a 85 Celica I would not waste time putting one in a 2wd Tacoma .

    Hence my Question .

What have you installed one in??

i myself have not swapped one... a close relative though is in the process of building a 1j that will be going in an is300 (drift build)

i wouldnt exactly call it a waste though to put in a 2wd taco... like any other motor swap, its the never ending quest for fun and smiles per gallon that means the most to many...

to pick them up and seeing more pictures of your thumb again.
