Was the file provided .VFT or .VFC? What version of vF Tuner was used?

What version of vF Tuner are you using to make these files? and are they provided in VFC format?

99% of the bricking cases are coming from files you are providing. (not blaming. Trying to figure out why).

I used 1.2.8.1, the last version that makes vft files.
Everyone wants me to keep them as vft files. That is why I use that version to make the tune files. It is the most up to date for vfts.
No one has had trouble flashing them with the old flash tool.

@wiljayhi was using the latest VFTuner and it caused the problem. But when he used the 1.3.2 vf flash tool it worked with no errors.
    He is driving now.

This older version software may not be correctly communicating with our server services. While it's unlikely that is the reason, please use the latest version for making files.

The older flash tool does not do individual vehicle communications and is easy to abuse that is why we have moved away from it.

There will be a recovery method coming to our new software son.

Vft files work with the new software. Vfc files do not work with the old software.

no, they should work perfectly fine. I said it's unlikely to be the case but it's better to just update.

Even the stock files are provided in VFT format and have no problem flashing.

What I am saying is that PapaRees files have an above average ratio of bricking (unknown as to why) so updating to the lastest version is eliminating one possible cause.

There's an average bricking rate even with your files? The brick rate with the new vFTuner seems to be high (regardless of who's tunes are being used.. but that's just what I've heard, not pointing fingers. I've flashed every version of @PapaRee tunes, not one has had given me any issues.

I guess what I don't understand IF @PapaRee is sending out .VFT files made with the 1.2.8.1 old software and I can use older 2.0 .vft files...what is the problem? I'm running the new software and I have tuned several of Paparee's tunes NO issues!

omg people nevermind. Do whatever the hell you want.

No there is no average rate. People brick their ECUs every once in a blue moon. The only difference is our current flasher verifies credentials before allowing you to flash. Since we have got several messages that people have had bad flashes with a kreg / paparee tune (no blaming him) I am asking him to update only to eliminate that as a possibility.

Bad flashes happened all the time on the old flasher. It's NOT the flasher, it's toyotas relic method of flashing. The only difference is that it was way easier to recover on the old flasher. People brick their ECUs all the time with techstream, Toyotas OEM multi million dollar software tool.

That same method is being put into the new flasher.

I have flashed @PapaRee tunes on the last version of flash tool before the big software update. I venture to say I have flashed my truck over 100 times, for testing, and tuning, no issues at all. it seems to me, the issue may be the new software, not the old.

the old way, is by far more stable, in my opinion but, everyone likes the latest and greatest. yes, there is a risk of abuse but, it is a solid and stable platform, and the tunes and flashes go in and start with no bricking. that is worth the price of admission for me.

This is a .vft file that stopped mid-flash using new flasher. @PapaRee got me through it using the old flash tool.

some trucks will never have a problem flashing.
Other trucks will fail multiple times.

There is only 1 way to flash these ECUs. So it's not like the new software does it differently than the old.

I am literally only saying "hey maybe try making the files on the newest version to eliminate that as a possibility" that's it.

I had my radio start end endless reboot the other day right in the middle of a flash. When i started the truck i had a couple of errors.

Just the radio going wacky screwed up a flash for me.

And as far as i know, the radio and ecu don't correlate
