Might as well post up my dealings with Wyatt.

I’ll say first, in the grand scheme of things I got lucky.

met Wyatt at the TTORA big bear meetup years ago and saw his whole entourage as mentioned before with linked dual case tacos. I had just finished my sas recently but was looking for a taco box and talked with Wyatt and he said he could get me one from marlin with a discount. Got home and hit him up and said I would have it in 2-3 weeks.

9 months later I’m still hitting him up asking where the fuck it is and he’s giving me the run around. I CALLED MARLIN DIRECTLY AND THEY SAID THEY DIDNT HAVE AN ORDER FROM WYATT FOR A TACOBOX, THEY HAD ABOUT 7 IN STOCK UNCLAIMED. I call Wyatt and tell him I want a refund and no answer, about 2 weeks or so later he hits me up and says he just got it and is getting ready to ship it but needs for money for shipping  I tell him fuck that I’ll just come get it right now. He gave me his address days later and I drove from NE Los Angeles to Huntington beach(?) to his driveway fab shop. He was very weird about me being there and when I was trying to be friendly and ask questions about the vehicles he had he was being very, well almost secretive about them.

I said fuck this loaded up my tacobox and got out of there.

I tried telling people about my dealings with him but everyone just said it was marlin.

feel bad for the dudes who sent them their entire truck.

    Stuff. Also things.
This was basically the same interaction I had with him when I used him to get my Taco Box.

He was super friendly and responsive leading up to me placing an order, and then was nearly impossible to get ahold of after that. He talked up how he and Marlin had ‘completely redesigned’ the 3.4 5-speed taco box and that it had totally fixed all of the issues of the previous versions. He also told me that it would be in my hands 3-4 weeks after placing my order. Six months later, after ghosting me multiple times and me threatening to do a charge back, he finally managed to come through and I got my shiny new crawl box.

Obviously, I was one of the lucky ones, especially because I was getting really close to the charge back deadline (I never told Wyatt that, of course). Hearing stories like @jAndyMendo ’s just puts it into perspective how shitty Wyatt got and how despicable his business practices were. I really hope all of y’all get some sort of resolution, and that he is so shamed (and litigated, hopefully) that he never sets foot in this market again.

Quick update. been getting about 2-3 new messages a day of people that are out 4k+ in the last 6 months.

No rent paid, no employees paid, no parts ordered, no work on trucks being done unless the owners did it or paid for it.

By my rough bar napkin calculation, wyatt pulled in about 80-100k or more in the last 6 months.

get those chargeback in before you message me. if he did order your parts and are about to send them, he needs to provide proof to dispute your CC claim.

I just joined TW just to post on this thread. Add me to the list of "customers/victims".

After receiving a recommendation from Marlin Crawler I called RST in October 2019 and ordered a TacoBox for my 2018 TRDP 4runner. I traveled from Norcal to have it installed in January of 2020 when it was supposed to be ready. Also after calling Demello and talking to Jason about buying a front bumper and having RST install it I ordered a Demello bumper from RST. I also became interested in Marlin's RCLT product and ordered Radflo coil overs in prep for the RCLT from RST. Well the TacoBox and Demello bumper did not arrive on time and was told by Wyatt that they would be ready in a day or two. I left the vehicle at his shop for a few days while my wife and I vacationed in the area. Wyatt called me after about 3 days saying the parts were delayed so I picked up the 4runner and drove home with Wyatt telling me he would come to NorCal to pick up my 4runner. A couple months later he didn't show for the arranged pick-up of the 4runner. I drove down to Socal again after hearing that the parts including the Radflo were ready. Again the parts were not there. Wyatt told me when his son went to pick up the Demello bumper that it "didn't look right" for my 4runner. He then told me he would make a bumper for me. At this point I was loosing trust but still had Suspension of Disbelief due to the original recommendation from Marlin Crawler and conversation with Demello and I agreed. Wyatt also said that due to the delays and my travel and problems with TaxoBox oil leaks he would make it up to me and says he made a deal with BigMike about getting an early RCLT kit installed as a showcase late model TRDP 4runner. By this time it was Aug/Sept 2020 and after that he was using Marlin Crawler RCLT schedule delays as the reason why I could not get into his shop. Then it was the shop move reason. My last message from Wyatt on Jan 12 2021 was "Call you back this afternoon. Playing catch-up right now." It's been silence since despite my many contact attempts. I paid for everything up front and once I discovered this thread tried to dispute the CC charges but it has been too long. I am out about $7000.

At this point I have gone direct to Marlin Crawler for a TacoBox kit since they no longer offer built units, and have ordered RCLT HD. I have also ordered the Radflo coilovers and Demello bumper again and will travel soon to Demello's shop for the bumper install.

This is insane. I feel for everyone who is out in the 10s of thousands. I remember 3 years ago getting the run around on an ADD switch and a speed sensor then receiving everything weeks later than originally scheduled. I did order front frame plates and when they arrived they basically paper thin steel and he claimed it was a packaging issue. Apparently his packaging makes steel shrink them delays everything. He’s been a fraud since day 1. It’s just finally caught up to him. I feel there will be a thread just like this over RCLT at some point in the future.

I hope MC offered a discount because they are in part a part of the problems with RST. Problems have been known (and rumored) with RST going back a few years now.

Wyatt had a proto of it wrapped up for 4runners at the shop. but it didnt fit right so we left it. Didnt fit on the 4th gen runner so may have just been the wrong kit, or wyatt trying to sell a proto he had to scrap which is also a scary thought

Again I'm sorry to hear these stories! Just FYI his "son" never ever came here to pick up anything. It was always wyatt. There were a couple stories like this and i can't remember which one was yours but we had a couple from him that were never ordered and the customers started calling us.

It took Wyatt T. Scott 4.5 years to NOT build my truck and he had it in his possession the entire time. However I am actually glad he never finished it himself because he is incompetent when it comes any fabrication skills. I am certain that if Wyatt would have finished my truck it would have been a subpar & over priced POS! Kevin stepped up and saved my build, he is an incredible builder and he is a class act.

I have won my lawsuit against RST and Wyatt and I will not stop until every penny has been repaid to me. My settlement will follow Wyatt and whomever else is involved in these lies and thievery until it is completely paid up. Bankruptcy is no shield for him in this case! I am not going anywhere... if this takes yearrrrrrs for him to pay this settlement that’s what it is. I AM A VERY PATIENT PERSON!

I'm new to the thread and posting and just learning how to reply. The proto RCLT may have been for my 4runner but he never contacted me about receiving it.

This is an unfortunate situation. He lives in my neighborhood and I've seen many Tacomas, 4Runners, and FJ Cruisers in his driveway over the years.
