some skid plate manufacturer should make one - they'd sell very well.

Just got it back today... I think it looks pretty good... Just added a few inches on each side just to cover the catts...sprayed some bed liner and let it dry... Probably gonna put it on this week's end...

    Several questions:
    1. Is that steel or aluminum?
    2. How much does it weigh? (I've got a 2.7 DCSB so I don't want to add lots of extra weight)
    3. If I were to go with powder coated steel, do they need any kind of maintenance to avoid rusting?
    4. How wide are those wings?
EDIT: Dang - RCI says their skids only fit 4X4 Tacomas.

They busted a couple of cat burglars last week in my town. They had over 300 cats stored at a U Store and they had receipts for the sale of over 2000 cats.

    1. they are RCI 5052 aluminum
    2. its lighter then steel, 30something lb...
    3. the skid was already powdered coated, i just bed liner spray the wings
    4. they are 4''x15''..
---- but if i did 5''x16'' and had them weld at an 5-10 degree angle it would be perfect.. there still a small gap but not enough to cut it out..the goal was to make too much effort for them to try..

i already put it on but too dark for photos... but its does look good underneath and it will to the trick...thats good enough for me

Anyway you can provide some pictures during the day of it installed? Also where did you purchase the 4x15 plate? Or did the welder have that already? Seems like the best option and will have transmission skid and cat theft prevention.

Just reading an article about thefts in my area. Not surprising as this is happening all over the country. Damn tweekers. Anyhow what was funny to me was a local police stations suggestion. They said if you paint the converter that junk yards won’t accept it, so it will deter thieves. Lol. Yeah, like some crackhead won’t go and grab a wire brush and get it all off. Or a meth addict will probably already have some paint thinner on hand as he’s cooking up a new batch. What the heck are they thinking? If they go through the trouble of climbing under a car to cut the thing off, surely they will remove whatever type of paint so they can get cash at the scrap yard.

i honestly think there would be alot of noise and trouble getting them out and have not heard of this happening at all....the tailgates are easier to steal...

Or tires. You’d be surprised. There have been a few cars who have had their tires stolen in front of stores in broad daylight. I guess people assume that someone wouldn’t be that stupid and think that it’s the owner. The more stupid the action, the less questions get asked.

Here’s mine. Thanks for the idea lol. I was actually going to extend Plate and have them bolted on to the 4 corner holes but this is even better.

Cost me $60 total with the plates and welding.

I'm still wondering if anyone can recommend some plates for 2WD 4 banger tacos, especially ones that could be modified to cover the cats.
