New Project: Media Port - Relocation (So I can hide the Wireless Carplay dongle in the center console)

Like a lot of people, I wanted Wireless Carplay. The CPlay2Air works *GREAT*. Only thing is - the MEDIA port is right in the front - and honestly - when I go WIRELESS, I don't want to actually see the damned CPlay2Air thing at all.

Problem was - Toyota doesn't make a relocation kit.
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_00.jpg

Sooo... purchased the BATIGE Square Single Port USB 3.0 Panel Flush Mount Extension Cable with Buckle for Car Truck Boat Motorcycle Dashboard 6ft on Amazon.
    Media_port_ext_Cable.jpg

Plugged the extension cable into it and shrink wrapped it together, then tucked it behind the dash and then routed the other end to the center console.
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_01.jpg

Cut out a small rectangle hold in the back of the center console, and secured the connector. Added a 12v socket as well...
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_02.jpg

The backside of the console! Not very exciting... I know...
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_03.jpg

This is with the CPlay2Air plugged into the extended Media port in the center console (and tested) and the 12v Accessory plug with a QC 3.0 and USB-C charge port.
In the front - you can see the near useless USB 2.1 dual charge ports. They work *ok* but I've found that they are very underpowered.
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_04.jpg

Accessory USB QC 3.0 and PD/PPS USB-C port charger...
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_05.jpg

I *REALLY* wanted a center console Apple MagSafe charger - BECAUSE the stupid Toyota Qi Charger really makes the Apple iPhones HOT as hell. So... went with a 100% Apple iPhone charger solution instead. This works great - and doesn't overheat my iPhone 12 Pro like the Qi charger did.
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_06.jpg

Apple MagSafe plugged in... tested - and working...
    TACO_MEDIA_Relo_07.jpg

Final look of the center console, with hidden CPlay2Air and MagSafe charger, and USB QC 3.0 charge cable (in case we have two iPhones needed to be charged).

I’ve been thinking about getting one of those ever since I bought a t30 torx screw driver. Might get the tailgate lock thing if I get one of those.

I mean I've only had it on for an hour now but I say go for it! As for the tailgate lock, I HIGHLY recommend that. I went with the oem toyota lock kit off Amazon and its one of the most practical mods I've put on the truck. I have a tonneau cover on the way as well so that will be great with the auto lock.

Do you feel any difference with the Silicone Air Intake Hose?

Yes. It has a little more pep when accelerating, and has a deeper sound. Doesn't drone out though which is nice. It has just enough to make up for what I lost moving to 275/70/17 tires a little while back.

Installed the Rough Country driver and passenger bedside molle panels. It was a simple job, but did take a little longer than usual because I was dealing with the clamps to the Diamondback cover (and the cover itself being kind of in the way). I drilled holes and installed rivnuts on the driver side, because my 2020 doesn't have the driver side cubby where the bottom of the panel is supposed to attach. I also mounted my ARB compressor to the front of the driver side panel, to make some use of the space that gets lost when my fridge is being used in its slide. I still need to clean up the compressor wiring and figure out a better solution for the hose/connector.

What did you use to plug the hole in the dash after you relocated the original USB outlet?

Completely understand. While I don't have kids (or family responsibilities to speak of), but radio/speaker upgrades have never been a top priority of mine. I wouldn't mind doing the sound deadening side of things. But I just dropped $300 for a cargo divider. And I got a trip to Boston coming up, so just gonna have to do it later this summer (that way I can sweat like a whore in church in the Mississippi summer sun lol).

Truck EDC and load for the @EasyDoesIt Desert Does It MMP is installed and relocation of the E50 is done for both Driver & Pass. Plenty of room and enough gear for my needs. I really tried to use all the MMP real estate I could. Install will be up on the channel later this week.

I logged on this morning and was wondering if my computer had a sudden issue. Shut down Chrome, logged back into email, and TW. Email was in color. TW was in b and w.

Glad I'm not the only one who was concerned
