Urban riders. Tiny living spaces necessitate collapsible bikes, that's why they're so prevalent in Europe.

Much larger and we're going to need low range t-cases on mountain bikes.

The one 'small wheel' folder I've ridden was twitchy as all hell. Coming from a 700c road bike that turned like it was on rails, it was really hard to control.

With the front wheel removed, the tip of the saddle is 39" off the floor. I'm 6ft with a long inseam, most of my bikes are 56-58" with a decent amount of seat post.

I've looked at those, the problem there is vertical clearance into garages. For the same reason(s) I won't go with a hitch mount, it kind of rules this option out. The purpose of having the bike *in* the truck is that it's easier/faster to replace the truck than some of my bikes.

I'll give them a call, but caps are made to order, so if LEER isn't making them, I'm kinda SOL unless I find a used one.

Who are our resident tech gurus? My laptop finally croaked last night, and I wouldn't mind upgrading a little from what I had.

Not a tech guru but I picked up a MacBook Pro 16" Retina a month or so ago and I've been very happy with it. Had a 13" Pro before that, which I got after getting tired of the constant updates and PITA Windows laptops that I had used prior to that.

I'm not anti-Apple, but not huge on how proprietary things are with them. But I will definitely look into it. With all the 3D modeling I've been doing, I need something that can handle it.

There is that. For me, that really hasn't been an issue but I'm using mine very differently for what it sounds like you are using yours for. In my case, not a deal breaker.
Now from what I do understand when I was researching mine the video/graphics capabilities on the Pro are supposed to be pretty good, and get better if you go higher on the memory side. I think the next gen that is about to come out is supposed to be even better but I didn't devote any time to researching that one because I needed a new one now.

ETA: @StockerWithALocker probably the biggest proprietary issue has been the USB C charger. I actually like the charger itself better than the one that was used previously (the Lightning connector) because that had the power supply and cord as a single unit. Just like the iPhone cords, the cord would go to shit right at the point it joins with the connector. With the USB C I can at least just replace the cord.
The next biggest issue/transition has been just having USB C ports on the thing. Not a huge deal, and I have an adapter that I use for USB 2/3s, HDMI, and additional C ports. Mine is longer than most (that's what she said) because I got one that I could put on that won't interfere with my UAG case. The conformal adapters look really nice, but would not work with a case.
Not having an optical drive hasn't really been an issue, but I did buy an Apple optical drive for the extremely rare times that I need/want one. I think I've connected it exactly three times in the 6 or 7 years I had my previous MacBook.
Battery life is great, graphics/video quality is fantastic, and the sound quality really has to be heard to be believed and will fool you. I (and my agency) use iPhones and iPads and it is much more convenient to have commonality in platforms across the board.
    Hope that helps.
