A question for you Shawn. Why do I / we see earthworms on the streets and sidewalks during rainy days?

 

That's when they can move across them from one habitat to another. They'd dry out and desicate if it was dry.

Drying out is a continous variable, there are degrees of moisture loss. Dessication is completely dried out(static variable), in this case to death.

Drying out = getting naked

Dessicated = naked
