By the looks of it, that's not as simple as unbolting and rebolting. How are you reattaching it?

You have to drill new holes and bolt it.

Mine fit when I pounded down the tabs with a BFH. No rub on the exhaust or the pumpkin. 255/80/17 Falken Wildpeaks.

It's not bad compared to my 33's. The whole wheel and tire assembly is only 7lbs more per corner so not as noticeable as going from stock to 33's. I'm in the process of tuning the ECU now and will regear later this year. They kick ass for sure.

I fit my 255/85R16 in there by hammering the tabs and moving the mechanisim rear about an inch or so. Marked, drilled and bolted. Pretty easy. I'm about to cut the exhaust and try and make my 35 fit under there. Another guy on here said he made it work so I'm going to give it try.

I have read 35's hit the stock hitch receiver and the pumpkin. Are you running an aftermarket rear bumper that would move the receiver? If you can make a 35 fit under there I want in on whatever info you have because that's one of the two reasons I didn't go 35s and went 33's (spare fitting under the bed, and regearing)

I've only seen Nokians in 235/85/16 which is a bummer. Hopefully they'll bring some new sizes out. I run 32" General Grabber Arctic LT which are decent enough but I liked my Nokians better.

I don't think we'll see 255s in proper winter tires so it'll probably be Hakka 285s for me next...

So apparently I found this thread 2 years ago as well....

Had 50k on my set then and now I have almost 90k on the same set.

Probably ride em past 100k but still starting to look into these

I've considered 285s but I'm apprehensive about a cab mount chop. I'm not aware of anyone who will do it in my area anyhow and I have zero welding knowledge.

I've seen very few heavily modified trucks that haven't become albatrosses around the necks of their owners. This thread attracted me because they like skinny tires, and that seems much more intelligent than riding on rolling donuts that require cutting and welding into the cab. (among other things) Of course some people can afford to waste a perfectly good truck, and others are impulsive and will bear the consequences.

Can agree with you on most of the overland monster trucks, but in this case the consequences of slightly wider tires are pretty small

Cutting into the cab for the privilege of wearing tires that rub over every bump and on every sharp turn? I just don't get the logic in paying extra for that.

The cut is so they don’t rub? And even then it’s when fully stuffed. The sweet spot is the 255s this thread is about but there aren’t any 255 snow tires.
