Can someone tell me if this is cause for concern? It's the driver's side between starter and exhaust manifold.

Depends on whether you think a blown head gasket is concerning

Can you give us more information as to previous maintenance or work you’ve had done to the truck?
Has the coolant system ever been worked on?
There’s more than one way for coolant to escape fro the coolant system.

As of now, with the limited information we have, it isn’t looking good for right now.

Get it pressure tested, it definitely looks like a head gasket.

I just purchased it and found this when crawling underneath. Don't know of previous history unfortunately. It's still under what would be considered a 1 month 1000 mile warranty from the dealer. Going to have it looked at on Tues. So far from pictures, they are claiming it's just staining. I don't buy it. Any suggestions when dealing with dealer would be welcomed!

Ask them to do a pressure test of the cooling system, as well as an exhaust gas test of the coolant in the system. What type of dealership is this?
If it is a used car dealership and not corporate dealership. You might be better of paying out of pocket for second opinion, depending on what they do or do not find.

Head gaskets are expensive. A $200 service fee for a quality inspection from a reputable shop is far less expensive than the cost of a head gasket.

I’d be getting it checked by more than just the dealership you bought it from, if they are already saying it’s “just staining”.

It is a corporate dealer. They sell Audi, Porsche, high end vehicles. So I hope they don’t give me the end around and own up to the issue. I’ll have a few independent garages take a look and give me diagnosis so at least I have something to fall back on.

Yeah, ask them if they routinely fill the radiator via the gasket between head and block

Keep a detailed log of everything.
The date you discovered the issue, any calls that you've made including dates, times, names of those you spoke to. Including their business titles.

    Keep all paperwork too.

Hope this goes smoothly. But if if doesn't, the records that you kerp will come in handy.

That's interesting, almost looks like part of the block is eroded away in that area.

Looks long term as in this has been going on for a while.

You have got good advice, don't back down, get your supporting information and documentation building. Keep it under your 1000K miles so no room to wiggle.

A Toyota dealership will inspect for free and document findings, just don’t let them know they aren’t getting the work.

Oh god do I know this feeling....
Since it’s still under warranty get it checked.
Document EVERYTHING like the others have said. If you have any phone calls, send that person a short follow up “per our phone call” email. That’s a good paper trail.

I’m the proud owner of two new head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets and two knock sensors.
My leak was built up around the sensors.
