Whats up guys? First post here.. I just picked up this 2011 Tacoma reg cab the other day. I have always wanted a Regular Cab 4WD Tacoma. I picked it up cheap, paid about $5k.

It's in pretty good shape for having such high mileage. I was most impressed with the lack of rust on this car being from the Northeast, apparently it was undercoated. One dent that looks like it can easily be pulled out and some scratches but nothing major. Mechanically it seems to be awesome. Sounds good and drives perfect. Clutch is smooth and all the gears are fine. Also the tires are brand new and only have 4,000 miles on them. The guy I bought it from was selling it for a friend and did not give me much information on it besides saying it was given oil changes religiously. I was a little skeptical but happy to find a massive pile of maintenance records in the glove box. About 50 or so receipts of it being serviced at the Toyota dealership, every single oil change and service since new. Right around 220k he had a laundry list of stuff done to it - Front/Read Diff, Transfer Case, Spark Plugs, Coolant Flush, Power Steering Flush, Fuel/Air Induction Service, and Manual Trans Service. Funny, the guy even kept the receipt from the one time it was towed because he got locked out.

I am going to document what I do to the truck in this thread. I am going to keep it mostly stock looking but planning to slowly build it into a fun off road toy. Tires and maybe a small lift. The first thing I did was modify the bench seat so that it can recline, makes driving so much better. I ordered a brand new carpet set for it in black which I'm excited to install. I will also shampoo the bench seat and clean it using an extractor when I do the carpet. I had a 2013 Tacoma regular cab a few years ago which I loved but that was a 2WD. I come from driving Corvettes so this is a welcome change. Glad to be here and look forward to learning more.

Sweet truck you got there! I will definitely watch this thread to follow your build. I have a reg cab but it's a 5 lugger

But what did you do to modify the bench seat to recline further?

It’s a 15 minute job but you need to be able to use a grinder. It is really great because it allows you to use the release lever behind the bench to recline it. Depending on how much you grind off most people gain 1-3 new recliner positions. It clicks and stays in any of them including the original stock position. Definitely a game changer.

Seat jackers work on the bench seats too, in case there's space under your thigh when you drive. Have heard good things about it on the bench, I use them on my buckets. Following for RC love.

    Update:

I ordered a bunch of parts for the truck last week. Front bumper, rear bumper, carpet, and center caps. First item to tackle was the carpet which was an absolute disaster when I bought it.

Last night I removed the old carpet and uncovered gross stains and one of the nastiest smells ever.

After some cleaning and disinfectant it looked like this.

New carpet almost done being installed.
    Carpet 7.jpg

All done! It makes the truck look so much newer and smell great. Also I got the super thick backing and it quieted the ride down so much.
The truck used to be pretty noisy lot of transmission and engine sounds and after taking it for a ride I couldn't believe how much quieter and
    enjoyable it was to drive.

Don't mind my ugly old tan floor mat out of my Corvette. I'm just using it until I anchor the floor mats back in. Also fixed the shift
boot falling down and taped it in place.

    More stuff to come.

Where did you get the new carpet? Was it hard to get installed properly?

OC Auto Carpets. Installation probably took around 6 hours and was moderate difficulty. Nothing too hard but I could also see how you could mess it up when doing the trimming. The hardest part was cutting out the whole area where the shift knob is since the carpet came as a rectangle and that wasn’t pre cut.
