I have been thinking about painting the roof of the truck with bedliner. I put ladders, toolboxes, and equipment on the roof rack, and I know for sure that is going to get all scratch up eventually. My Taco is Barcelona Red and I haven't decide if it’s going to be color match or deep black. Has anyone has done this before? Any comments or suggestions, feel free to state it.

Big old NO on that one.

Put a piece of vinyl up there if anything.

This is a terrible idea IMHO.

Much nicer finish than standard bedliner (no rubber chips) and colorfast.

    Only you can decide color.

Before I can make a decision I would like to see your truck with the roof rack that it has on it. You can also go into the Photoshop thread on here and request them to black out your roof so you can get a visual of what it would look like

Another option is Plasti dip You can do that as well and it would peel right off if you didn't want it to be permanent It would be a different option than vinyl

I feel like heat inside the cab would become an issue as well

The weight of the bed liner would likely cause flex in the roof. These roofs are very thin. I would suggest a thick vinyl or even go to a shop and have someone put 3M clear bra up on the roof. keeps the color and protects it a little better.

Go with a lighter color. Black will get too hot.

Go with a thick clear vinyl so you won’t compromise the color scheme your truck has. Something similar to the clear wrap on front ends to protect against rock chips.

I would also consider that the resale value of the truck would probably drop considerably if you bed lined your roof.

Tend to agree with others. I would not bedline the roof.

Maybe cheaper and smarter just to repaint it in a few years if it gets beat up to the point where you can't stand it anymore.
