Not that it matters because it has nothing to do with the problem, but I did try to resolve this issue back then. And just like this time, with no answers in sight, I am going to go back under my rug and forget about it again. One would think with over four years of renewing technology, this question, or problem could be addressed. But there I go again, forgetting that the truck is functioning as it should. See you in another four years.

With idiotic responses like this, it’s no wonder you have over 6 thousand posts. What did you have about 8 responses that made any sense, if that.

    8 seems like a lot. I'd say 3-4

Also, I wasn't making fun of you. Sad to see you felt you had to leave for another 4 years

I literally just though the same for the next post that was made. He also has a point for me too. I post crap from time to time but don't ever hate on people. My post was for empathy but taken out of context I see now.

    OP.

The lighted tabs to the left and right of the radio screen are tied to the dash lights. These are on all the time, but..... Day driving lights off, they are on bright. Lights on day or night, these are dim. The brightness is controlled with the trip knob in the middle, lower dash. Turn left = dimmer. Turn right = brighter.

That said, now matter how bright you turn the dash lights up. You will still not see them in the daylight.

    normal day, lights off.

That's exactly OPs compliant and I agree with him. There's an option to make the screen bright again so that you can see it during the day. That same option should default the buttons back to bright.

It bothers me too but not enough to ever complain about it. Except now I suppose. :anonymous:

First question is why drive in the daytime with the headlights on? The truck has DRL...........

Second question, if you ask a question and don't like the answer don't shit on people and then wonder why no one will will respond or they respond with snark. I guess this is more of a statement than a question.

Funny thing is this is how most cars work......

Prevention is the best cure. Don't drive around with your fog lights on during the day...

It's pretty common in my neck of the woods for it to be dark enough during daytime (due to cloud cover) that people use their headlights. It's a bit annoying that my dash gets so dim during these times. It's not invisible, but it can be hard to read. Note that I do not have the fancy head unit with lit buttons on the sides. I think Toyota probably could improve the experience, but it's not a huge gripe of mine.

I've heard of the day mode setting before, but it's not something I'm want to futz with while driving. Toyota could improve the experience by sensing the ambient light and dimming appropriately.

    Rite rite.

I guess I can see where he’s coming from to a point. A cloudy rainy day with the lights on, And can not see the lighted buttons. That one does get to me a little.

    Nice reply..

See post #29. The blue, side, touch buttons (if you will) to the left and right of the Head unit dim with the park/head lights on during the day along with the display. Yes the dsplay can be changed but not the blue buttons. That is his (OP's) problem. The way around this would be to pull the 5 amp fuse under the dash in the fuse box labeled dash. or, wire in a switch like in post #39.

The down side of pulling the fuse is that, The head unit will always be bright even at night, and you will loose the day/night function of the screen. but the blue side buttons will still be lit up like in the day time with no headlights on. Yes, I tried it earlier today pulling the fuse... At least with the switch spliced in, the operator will still have control at night time to switch it back.

Edit: I give @caribe makaira all the credit for this, as we had a private discussion today about it.
