I wish I had my bike out in AZ NM, damn there was some beautiful scenery. But even in the southeast too AL LA wish I had my bike stuff with me. Next time.

It's like poking fun at jeeps or rangers or whatever. It's all in good fun, and if you are serious about it then you're just a dink. They're just cars, it's just a place to ride, just having a laugh and busting balls. :notsure:

Except the Nissan Juke - I have no bicycle equivalent to that, if you try to defend the Juke :smack:

Dammmmn I just looked on Bentonville zillow - If they keep pumping in money and become the next Boise, that shit will take off. It's actually not too far from Tulsa and Little Rock, all things considered. Dallas is "only" 5.5 hour drive, too. (I plugged it in, Austin is about 9 hours each way, which is a hefty drive but doable, a lot closer than the 20 some odd hours from Providence!)

But for me the reason I'm aiming toward Austin a bit further south instead....

I love it - I love it every year. I will be out riding, dripping sweat in 95 and humid in New England. That may very well change over years of living in Austin, but I hate the cold so much that I think it's worth the risk of moving south.

The downside is - not to get off topic, I know it's a bike thread - right now, our house is in a great location, great size, great yard, great setup - the only problem is the weather. But, it's a big problem because I am big on being outside, and to shut down for essentially 4-5 maybe 6 months of the year is not cool. Nov-Feb is out for the count, October has some days that are okay, and March you get a few good days here and there, essentially (for a pansy-for-the-cold like me) you lose October through March, and even a lot of April because F that it's too damn cold. If I lost say Jan and/or Feb in Austin, that's a hell of a lot better.

I'm almost 30, in all these years, I've never had an issue with being outside in heat and humidity. Cold is a constant hate.

Haha well you may be ok then! I’m in north Alabama and I hate that simply existing outside in May-November makes me sweat buckets. Chewing air isn’t fun to me, but I like our winters. Cold enough to enjoy, but never get more than a couple inches of snow if that. I love snow, but couldn’t live somewhere that gets blizzards lol

Its not that I don't like it but I have a little gypsy in my blood. I honestly had to move anyways with my work and it was essentially a decision based upon some pretty limiting factors such as what locations were available for my job this summer. I love the access to trails, public lands, public schools and climate. I dislike the rising cost of living and lack of basic law enforcement along the front range in Colorado.

I'm not advocating for living in a police state or anything like that but there is almost zero chance of getting caught by the police doing anything wrong. On nearly every single errand I run I see someone driving without license plates which is not a major crime or anything but it just points to a larger problems with the area. My family and I have nearly been involved in multiple accidents by drivers who just act like they robbed a bank (running red lights, doing double the speed limit, passing people in turning lanes; etc). Law enforcement also does not have the tools or support to get the job done either. For instance, someone abandoned a car on my street recently. Took 4 days to get them out there to put a tag on it saying they would be towed in 3 days, then it took them an additional 6 days after the tow notice no later than date to actually tow it. So in total, it took around 13-14 days to get a car towed that was abandoned with no tags or valid registration on my street. Not their fault or anything because they do not have the manpower for our exploding population or bum crisis nor do they have a city that supports them with proper legislation. It is just something to think about if you ever want to move to areas like Colorado Springs or Denver.

    Will do!

Interesting. Thanks - cool to read from someone who's gone through it.

As far as the no-plates thing, that's been a big thing recently with DMVs shut down and whatnot, people are really milking that one. I just drove out to LA and back, I saw so many cars without plates. Before the 'vid I'd say I would see a few a year at the most, but I also wasn't going cross country. :notsure:

That is one thing that's genuinely turning me away from Austin, and as shitty a person it makes me to say it, the homeless population is huge down there. Everyone up north buys one-way-tickets for their homeless population to the south, dumps them in southern states so they can avoid the cold. That's actually part of Hawaii's problem - the continental US (won't name which California state did it) would buy them 1 way tickets to an island, where it's expensive as all get up to (a) live and (b) get off the island. Anyway that's diving down a rabbits hole that could easily become political, so lets' not get into that one today. But yeah driving around and exploring Austin, tent cities are everywhere. I'm in Providence, spent time in Boston, Bangor, Portland, Manchester - I'm not a stranger to (what I thought was) a larger homeless population, it's just rather surprising just how large the homeless population is down that way.

Oh I’d believe they would take care of anything like theft, property damage, etc., but they just kinda have their hands tied on the petty stuff.

I'm planning on going Dissector for my rear tire. Heard good things. A bit looser than the DHR2 but faster rolling. Fast like the Aggressor but better wet traction. Found a couple youtube videos a while back that compared the Dissector to others in the Maxxis lineup. Though the Vittoria love has me considering giving them a try.

THIS IS SO TEMPTING. If it was carbon frame and still an equally good deal, I would own it already. Although I do have a question for yall: Do used bikes still have manufacturer frame warranty? I've never bought used and haven't been around mountain biking long enough to learn that part of stuff.

Read/watched similar positive reviews, just haven’t seen any real world feedback.

Currently running an Aggressor rear and a DHF up front with zero complaints. Just ordered an Assegai and Dissector to have on hand when it’s time to replace.

The most you could hope for 2nd hand from any manufacturer is a crash replacement price. If the guy is local he may be willing to work with you in the future. You could also see if he has even registered his purchase with ibis.

Isn't that bike like $3k new? If it were carbon it would be $2k more at minimum.
