Anyone into R/C?

Just got my c24 kit today. Looks like someone sat on it.. And there were screws falling out when I took the plastic shipping bag off of it..




My buddy last camping trip had one(RTR)

 

I prefer 1/10th scale but 24th is as small as I can work on

 

Maybe you can help me then because I'm getting really confused by all the kits available on ebay. What is rtr? I read on another forum its better not to get rtr? I'd like to build the kit but If it doesn't come with everything I need, I don't know how to find what I need lol.

The kit ones I see on ebay seen to not come with some of the electrical components

I got mine on Banggood. RTR = ready to run/race, it's already built. Kit means you have to build it. They have the kit I got which does not come with batteries and controller. But they also have kits that do, click on them and read the descriptions. Banggood is pretty good about having a list of included stuff.

I think the red and blue c24 might both be 2wd, but I don't remember.

One thing to note, the other trucks the guys are talking about are fast, some sound too fast for their own good. The c24 is not a fast truck, checkout youtube for videos and you'll get a sense of scale and speed.

While I've got you, what controller/battery/circuitboard etc did you get for your kit? I don't want to buy something cheap I'll regret and replace soon.

 

I just got a 6ch remote with receiver they had for $38(?) nothing super high end. Trying to keep it reasonably cheap. I don't know the quality of any of this besides what I saw from my buddy. I thought the price banggood has listed was worth it for what we're getting. It's not gonna wow anyone at the local rc shop but it's gonna be a fun project and be fun to tool around outside with.

 

If you end up really going down the rabbit hole of RC, remember that you wrote this line.

 

It was a kit. Traxxas TRX4 crawler kit that I had to modify to fit the Killerbodies LC70 body.

I'm looking at this battery for the wpl c24

But I have no idea what charger I need for it. Help anyone? Also open to better battery recommendations, I'm just not aware of what will fit the battery compartment.

 

This looks like the one bundled with the c24 RTR. But any "smart" lipo/li ion charger with balance plugs will work although you might have to make an adapter.

While I don't have a c24, I would say softer tires always make the biggest difference. That and any kind of unsprung weight you can apply to the axles are huge helpers. Skid plates help the plastic from getting chewed up. I cant wait to jump into the wpl c24 craze as well. Next Friday for sure!

Red cat has really improved their quality. That being said the body is huge and the plastics they use are still seeing breakage under extreme use. I've not seen the aftermarket jump on board just yet either.

As crawlers go the redcat is on the list after an axial, trx4 or element....
