Does anyone else think the TSS is straight TRASH?

Title says it all. I thought this thing was cool at first but combined with the transmission hunting for gears in cruise control it sucks. I will be using it going down the road and if someone goes to turn off and i try to just go around the TSS will apply heavy braking.

I also had it freak out and tell me to brake while driving down I-15 with nothing in front of me and I didn't even have cruise control on.

When out in the desert I assume it gets dusty so you're getting these lights and messages.

    Hate it or love it?

I adjusted the settings to the lowest sensitivity. I like it.
I had two false alarms while under 5k miles. No hiccups since.
Once none of the features worked cause the emblem was dirty. A quick clean took care of that.

The only time I've ever had problems with it were once when driving in heavy, blowing snow and once after a day of four-wheeling in Arizona. Both times a quick swipe with the edge of my T-shirt cleared it up right away.

DRCC is awesome, wish I had it in my Tacoma

BSM (more specifically RCTA) is nice to have but the sensors are straight trash and problematic

Don't like that I can't turn it off permanently --My victory bumper bar makes it go off sometimes if i forget to disable each time i drive.

    Still thinking about it.
I tend to like those systems when they work well. My 2015 4 banger 5 speed is like a throwback though. Pure and simple. The complaints I see about 3rd gens make me want to stay with the older ones though.

I'm a big believer in the TSS. I like the tech - but that being said - it needs some adjustment - and if you put it on another grill - or raise your truck (or level it) then you have to adjust the TSS angle. This can be a bit tricky - and of course - set the sensitivity as well. But - once you dial that fucker in - its a good addition.

Also - I've been playing a lot with the DRCC and love that as well for long haul drives. Saves my right foot from cramping.

And yes - I am a techie. Been into I.T. for over 30 years - so tech like this is what I live for.

What’s up with the sensors? They don’t work or what?

I had the dealer turn mine off permanently at the 10k service. They hit me for $150.

Since I plan on getting a tune at some point, maybe I jumped the gun too soon if OVTune can do it.

    Meh. :burp:

Adaptive cruise is nice, I guess. :notsure:

Could do without the other nanny crap that will surely be super expensive to repair when said nanny features start to :censored: the bed/have problems (inevitably after the warranty has expired).

I’m pretty sure you can, kinda… at least a work around. There is a setting at least in the early yrs that was to “turn off auto on”

every time you start the truck currently (even if you’ve had of off on previous shutdown) it would automatically be on so that’s why you turn it off every time (or forget as you said). So factory this setting is set to default on every time. You can turn this to not default on (you turn it off and the next time you start, it remembers your last setting)

there was a recall and if anyone had aftermarket grille/lift/tires the dealer would basically do this to disable it for liability because you altered the ride height and/or grille from factory setup.

my dealer did the bs recall fix (3m foam tape) and turned this off from defaulting at my request. Tbh I don’t know if it’s currently on or not, I just wanted the option of I choose to

edit: the wording of this is probably not exactly “auto on by default” but it’s just how I remember it

Lol, I thought this thread was bashing the TSS packaged offered by Gulf State Toyota.
