We decided to go with a standard stick framed building. Definitely looked at metal and post framed. All have advantages and disadvantages. Biggest thing for us is we want to eventually finish the interior. So with that and not wanting just a bunch of conduit for electrical all over stick framing just made sense. I talked to a few other garage owners on another forum and they agreed. One had a metal building and ended up pretty much stick framing the inside and said he should have just stick built from the get go.

We are going to do metal siding and roofing though. And yup we are going to insulate it. I'm going to out in everything for radiant heat but will have to see when I actually get it up and running. A/C might be an option too after talking with a gentlemen who has a garage here and didn't make it sound to bad to do.

Definitely price them all out. Obviously the cost is higher but sq ft cost gets cheaper. It sucks to look at the price but it's a one time cost

Out hear the amount of equity a large shop adds to a property always makes it worth it.

But interesting on the full stick built. Kind of makes sense. I'll look forward to crossing that bridge some day. First I gotta get a house...haha

Radiant heat is the way to go. My dad's shops have been that and several others I've worked it. It works great and is pretty efficient. Plus your floors always stay dry so when the ice/snow melts off the vehicle then it's gone really fast. If I can afford that, that's what I want to do. I'll even lay the tubing myself if I have to.

I got quotes for all types lol. Metal and Pole are definitely cheaper "out of the gate" so to speak. Metal by the time you added everything to frame in between the posts was going to be around the same as stick built. Pole barn could definitely be cheaper just depends how you did it.

Yeah everyone we have talked to (well more my wife has talked to) says radiant is the way to go. It aint cheap though! I actually just ordered the insulation for under the slab plus the PEX and manifolds. None of the concrete contractors wanted anything to do with laying it out so it worked out for me since th one i went for is doing the prep work then letting me lay the insulation and tubing before they pour

Thats the only real way we decided to go through with this. Besides concrete Ill be building it all.

That's pretty much how my dad did his shop. Sounds good!

For me it's hard to imagine having the time to do that with the way I've been working lately..So probably end up forking over to have people do a lot of the work.

Isn't a blower always in boost because it's always driven by the crank?

Nope, it has a bypass valve actuated by the vacuum to bypass the boost at low throttle demand

Hm not scary but not great either.

Problem is the urd won't help much in closed loop.

The real solution is to get an fic6 so you can control the trucks injectors themselves.

Nope as zane said it has a bypass valve. It is always being spun though so it's actually robbing you of power when not in boost though.

I'm sure the new one is better and more modern, but unfortunately the wiring harnesses people have already generated (like boomslang and whatnot) will no longer work so that's kinda a bummer.

eh surely you could just get one from URD to make your own. That's what those ones are for.

I dunno, I won't buy from URD anymore. But making your own cut together wouldn't be too hard. But the FIC had premades for the taco before, that won't work anymore obviously.

I had a job I actually enjoyed for the most part so not working has been a bit weird. I am supposed to have a side job lined up but it's a "on call" type gig so we will see if they actually call.

I wonder what the power loss of a constantly spinning supercharger vs one with a clutch like the sc12/14 is at lower speeds.

Thats about the only thing I'd buy from them at this point. It's handy and no one else makes them. It's well worth the time saved IMO. And no hacked up stock harness for easy reversal.

Depends on the unit and how much rotating mass it has. The one for a 3.4l, probably anywhere from 10-25hp.

The one on the Hell cat, 120hp haha
