A buddy has the PSVR and a full surround sound movie room to go with GT sport. could easily replicate for 600 bucks if you went somewhat budget on the speakers. What an experience. We'd sit there for hours and play. Then 30 minute breaks to play beat saber. Also a blast if you go the VR route ever. Nice thing about the PC ones is the program itself was 20 bucks and its got all the add on mods and stuff so I can lap the nordschleife with friends for hours if we want to. Also the drift servers are a blast but tricky since I don't have a handbrake.

 

Only issue is that a lot of the features of the game, and especially the features I enjoyed the most, are not available on VR.

I really enjoyed doing the Daily Races, the challenge of qualifying for them and then the racing itself. Sadly, those can't be done on VR. I also loved the livery editor and spent more time painting cars than I did racing them.

 

See I have this mental disconnect where I often do better with the dual shock than a wheel and whatnot because my brain is expecting the g-force feedback and to not have it totally throws me for a loop/ I end up all crossed up.
For right now that's all the driving I will be doing for the next 3 months though.

Feeling worlds better this weekend. Able to get around way easier, take care of myself, and so on. Head doesn't feel like it's full of scrambled eggs but I still get tired as hell.

Weird stroke observation: I used to love Oreos but now they taste absolutely gross to me. Like almost-revolting levels of gross.

 

Glad your doing better. That is a odd side effect though. Definitely something to bring up to your doctor though.

 

Anybody have any recommendations for a company that does custom residential structures like pergolas, carports, etc? We've been wanting to do this project for a while now... Add an electric rolling RV gate to the back wall and a nice, beefy carport/cover. The Taco doesn't fit in the garage anymore and it has plans to get even taller hopefully later this year and I wanted a nice secure place for it. The minitruck and wife's car stay in the garage and that's still my main work space as well. This was my late night Conceptual layout last night for a few hours... it is all to scale though! lol Drawn with 6x6's for the uprights and beams. Undecided on material still..

Build it. Even thought of doing it myself with the help of some friends. But time is a factor.

The issue, at least for GT Sport, is that tire wear and car control are just not able to reach the same level as they are on the wheel. So if you're doing a race where there's tire degradation, you'll be at a disadvantage on the controller vs those who have wheels. Add to the fact that it's much easier to shift the car as well as operate brake/gas while steering and you're able to have that much better performance using a wheel instead of a controller. At a certain point, you can only send so many different commands through your fingers, so breaking them up to your hands (shifting), arms (steering) and feet (brake/gas) and you can outrun some of the best DS4 players on a wheel.

Most people, especially on console racers, just don't spend enough time to notice the gulf, so it never comes up. But for awhile in 2019, I was really trying to be as good as I could. Then I bought the Tacoma and realized I'd rather spend money and time on that than on a console.

Glad to hear you're improving, and frankly, not liking Oreos anymore sounds like a net improvement imo. I especially hate how they stick to your teeth. Haven't had them in years! Give me a bakery-fresh cookie instead.

Stupid question, but this is the structure you're talking about, right?

I think 6x6's might be overkill/unnecessary for really the whole roof and roof-support structure. Might wanna look into 2x8's/10's/12's etc to save on material costs and not put so much weight up there. I'd estimate that could be two days of work for three guys assuming no material issues, probably less depending on how you're wanting to mount the support posts to the ground. I'd personally cement them in and that'd likely be the biggest time consumer there with measuring/digging/waiting.

 

I wanted to use it as a hoist point/storage as well from underneath, hence the beef. But yes, it doesnt need to be all 6x6. The runners will probably be like you said, 2x8's. I'm going to anchor it in cement footers. Need to pull the pavers we put in in those spots, pour concrete, anchor, then cut pavers to fit back around the posts. dont take this rough model as an actual design.. this was mostly to have a "visual" for my wife.. lol

 

But ultimately this is what I'm basically after and why I'm hoping to find a company.

 

I would always run one stick as throttle/brake and the other as steering (imagine like an RC car) and then the triggers as "paddle shifters" and I got to the point where I could hang pretty damn good even with tire degradation. Actually endurance racing was one of my favs.

Late 2019 I bought the latest Forza and I kept increasing the driver difficulty level over and over and over and would still shithouse the AI drivers... lost interest after a few days.

A car with roughly the same class points blasting a 10 second lap split off a "HARD" AI is just silly, and then past a certain point they just cheat or act like absolute maniacs and will clip you with black flag behavior and utterly no remorse.

And yes, I will take my brain easing off the sweet tooth as probably an unlikely silver lining. I still love fresh baked chocolate chip cookies so think I am good.

 

I can get you a good deal on the metal roof and install. We don’t do metal roofs much anymore as a company but will do some things every once in a while. Do you want corrugated up there?

Anyone have experience with a good block fence builder? I need 150' of block fence for daughters house built.

 

Yeah I re mapped my buttons to give me as much throttle, brake and shifting control as I could.

But I wasn't racing against AI, I raced against other players. And GT Sport has a great skill matching algorithm. When you're racing on a controller against someone who has a wheel in a race with tire degradation, it's no contest. The wheel user will get another good lap or two out of their tires before their grip falls off which is a huge advantage.

And if they have loadcell pedals it's an even bigger advantage for the wheel user.

I'm actually thinking we are going to go a different route. been playing with ideas and just thinking about everything. Leaning towards going a simpler route.. just use sun sails.

 

Anybody a pool guy on here? I have a MP Industries pool net (MP-54389) but cannot seem to find where to buy one. Anyone know of a comparable pool net?
