That Utility Bed looks really good, and will provide you with much needed storage space. You did a fine job refinishing it.

Had to change my tail lights due to wiring issues but I stuck some rigid lights in there as the reverse. Should be bright as hell!

also finished fabricating the bumper, just need to paint and mount... and sandblast the hitch since I let it go to shit in the salty air haha

Wow. Great restoration. That looks like it took a ton of work. Very clean as well!

Will definitely be checking in on the thread to see further progress.

Basically how it will sit, I may raise or lower the bed slightly once the floor of the rtt is finished. May end up adding some sort of support bar where I drew the red line, depending on how much deflection I get with 36” hanging over my cab.

    This is fantastic!

I wouldn’t worry about deflection. The only weight the overhang has to carry is itself and your feet when sleeping.

One thing I’d change on my camper is more overhang.

yeah, we’ll see! I like to go a little fast sometimes in Baja.

I’m stoked on the extra room. Having the ability to stand outside of the bed area will be super nice.

I just went through some of your build. That thing is bitchin!

have you done your tent yet? I’m about to order some keder rail for the tent and some shocks for the wedge. I’m hoping to figure out a way to mount the shocks inboard while not interfering with the tent to much, but we’ll see!

So there’s a shortage of polypropylene in the us right now and plascore gave me an estimated delivery date of some time in September for the honeycomb panels... I can’t wait that long so I’ve decided to go with their aluminum honeycomb panels. 1/2” for the roof and 5/8” for the bed. It seems to be quite a bit stronger than the poly panels. Only bummer is that they are a little bit heavier at .84lbs per sq/ft.

this whole set up is already heavier than I would like so I’m sure a v8 or atleast an sc are in my future!

Also got my crossbar mounts that I made on fusion360. I’m currently learning cnc machining and got to go through the whole process of cad/cam and set up and machining these. It just makes me want to design more parts!

hopefully I’ll get my own cnc in the next couple years.
