Blackout package - planned: black bed logos, black wheel vinyls, front seat window tint, tires.
All cleaned up for its first road trip. Can't wait for the black logos to arrive. That silver sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

I figure nothing is better than the silver, so if they peel, I'm ok with it.

I took mine off the second week and my wife flipped out. She asked me why I removed the sticker and I said it looked like crap. Her response was “ oh yeah it kinda did”

Washed mine today too, not for a long trip, but just to keep it looking good and green.

Yeah, I'm perplexed too. What's wrong with the factory stuff? It seems to do the job just fine unless you are Edward Scissorhands I guess. To each their own, but in Taco world, it seems like there are a million solutions out there in search of a problem.

I’m pretty sure it’s just like a screen protector for your phone. They go over the top of the factory ones. I have some scratches on mine from skis, poles, and snowboards. I’ll probably get these to hide the scratches and to protect the originals:thumbsup:

Well sure, but then it would be a screen protector over a screen protector, right? Sort of belt and suspenders... I mean, the purpose of that strip (aside from breaking some visual attention along the B pillar) is to protect the paint where one might grab to shut the door.

Okay, finally got the RDJ Trucks Streamline flares on. Did one side, then had to go visit the Easter bunny, came back and finished the other side. Now that it's in the sunlight, the paint on these RDJ Flares is almost a shade brighter than the factory paint. Other people dont notice it but I do. I'm hoping with a few weeks in the sun, and some rain, it will even out and match a bit better. Also, there were some micro blemishes in the finish. If I could describe it, it looks like someone dropped a cheesecloth on the flare when the paint was wet. Barely noticeable, and not enough for me to ask for a refund or a redo from RDJ. They do offer a 3 year warranty on the paint, so if it continues to bother me, I may see what can be done.

Install was pretty straight forward. Factory flares are held on by some 10mm screws and double sided tape. The RDJ flares are 10mm screws, and a rubber gasket that goes around the outside edge to prevent scratching. Putting that gasket on was the hardest part of the install. What a bitch.

All in all i'm happy. Outside edge of the flare is just about even with the outside edge of my 285/70's. Hopefully this will take care of the debris getting kicked up on the paint. Here are some pics.

But the OEM strips scratch fairly easily. Screen ProTech uses a protective film that resists scratching and has some self-healing ability.

In the end, you decide what works for you. I live on a small farm road - dirt and gravel - and am constantly trying to avoid branches that get blown down in the wind. The added protection works for me.

I put in the extended engine well Splash Guards that @Stoked4 sells here on TW. What an improvement in the coverage to keep water and mud from in the engine bay.

Left side OEM pulled and ready to install the replacement.

Close up of the OEM coverage:
