Price to pay to live in the beautiful northwest. There are salt water sounds everywhere and lots of marine layers and humidity. I’m just south of him in WA, it ain’t the evergreen state for nothing. Surface rust happens fast but we don’t have the road salt crap here like the Midwest and northeast gets that causes rust cancer.
I mean I get the same surface rust even in San Diego as long as you’re close to the beach

Fu*k that... I just drove my 4Runner around this weekend and anything over 5mph is awful.

 

I recently got into woodworking. I have had many friends reach out asking to purchase items I can build. I think I’m going to look hard into a business mode that will get my pennies saved up for the base +2.25” kit ASAP. This kit appears so far superior to any other front end IFS option on the market and I am so freaking stoked to imagine this sort of prowess on the front end of my truck. It is simply and end all be all IFS solution when paired with the slide rack and heim steering & 934’s. It doesn’t get any better than this. Not dollar for dollar and not on a DD/trail rig like mine. I think this +2.25 would be right at home on my southwest wheeler/DD.

Edit - at OP, please don’t take my post as a “your products cost too much” because I do feel that it is an excellent value kit, especially across the market in this segment.

what cool mods can we expect to see first on the 4Runner?

That’s kind of the hero’s journey we watch here. The quick and easy way is to listen to people’s advice and just buy once cry once - want a caged prerunner? Just buy a fully built truck or a cheap salvaged / bare cab to build off of. Second option is the profit minded person’s obvious solution. The benefit of going through the hero’s journey is learning each and every problem you made by doing it the expensive way.

And all these years later I can mig/Tig, lathe and mill operate and can do basic bead rolling and sheet metal work
And all that has come from a desire to make my truck reach my end goal and at the level of quality I want.

doesn’t necessarily mean I can lay perfect dimes or build a flawless cage
But
That need to do it your way
Comes with a hell of a lot more knowledge

 

Ok maybe I’m just an idiot, how are you guys tightening your abs sensor after a spindle gusset install? I can’t get anything back there to tighten it.

 

A wrench. Not being a dick it's tedious but that's what I used.

 

You should probably just strip it down, center mount kit for the front, 4 link the rear and drop an LS in it

 

What about slower crawling and using spring over on your kit? Seems like we would need less drag, more droop. Also, where can I find this kit? I didn’t see anything on the website.

 

I was able to get a socket somehow in there to get it close. Finished it with a wrench.

 

Working on the driver side right now but this is mostly done. Tomorrow we are hitting the bypass mounts.

 

Am I right in seeing that it bolts in first to help with lining things up? How foolproof is it?

 

Personally on the EC i'd stick with SOA keep everything high and tight. I can give you many examples where having everything tucked up where we wheel was much more of an advantage than an inch or so more bump. I already use all the bump in my shocks and still have more in the springs. Watch a JK, JL, ZR2 and a few others wheel some of the trails we do even big tires their low hanging fruit is a nightmare on the rip rap trails and loose boulder fields. It's setting it up for what will benefit your personal use best. There is always going to be a compromise.

Yes it has locating mounts to line it up so you can "fit" it or your vehicle some and then hold in place while you weld.

The kit uses factory locator holes to place the brackets where they should be. There is some finessing, depending on the trucks previous use and the condition of the frame, with the kit but it’s well designed in making the process straight forward.

 

Passenger side is tacked into place. Took some finessing to get the kit where it needed to be with minimal gaps since my frame is pretty fucked.
