Just an FYI, apologies if this has been posted already. On the Toyota Canada website when you build a Taco the TRD lift kit is an option you can now pick, with an installed price. Dont see it on the US site.

    Enjoy

Some say with 285 tire it will rub. That is a ‘No’. It will not rub. I have the TRD lift kit installed on 285 KO2. I love the ride. Smooth. No complaints so far. After a couple of weeks from install, dealer wanted to check the suspension for retorque. All good. Whatever size tire you decide, it will look good as long as you are happy with it.

hey all.....i've got my shocks.....waiting on a 1.25 rear block to be shipped for install......to be clear....this uses the factory springs up front?.....they don't mind being stretched out an extra 2"?.....and also.....i've asked this question before but can't seem to get a good answer......if i do the front diff drop to correct the cv angles, will this help to avoid the dreaded needle bearing issue?..... thanks for any advice.... :)

Agree and so are 285 tires.. all are slightly different in width and rolling diameter

Might as well add wheels too.. width, offset etc.. all fit differently

Then many that have tested different tires have yet to exercise the TRD suspension besides riding down the highway to get the coils to settle from install ride height.. They need some rough dirt roads to actuate the suspension and to get to the ride height they will end up at an accelerated pace vs just pounding pavement.

The Springs do not get stretched more, they get compressed more.

oh....i assumed that the shock was longer and gave the lift and may or may not need longer spring to accommodate....like taller vehicle would need taller shock/spring..... either way, i suppose i don't need new springs.....no thoughts on the diff drop to correct cv angle and avoid needle bearing?....thanks again for schooling me on this....i've never lifted a truck

Glad you guys pointed that out. Not all trucks are the same and not all trucks hit the dirt roads all the time. FWIW, the kit looks good on a 2021 TRD OR and it has its benefits. I’ll share my experience to help other guys decide what kind of build and how much $ is required to make it happen.

Select your build design carefully based on your plans and intention on what you want to do with your truck. This is what makes it fun...there is a lot of aftermarket parts and accessories available for the Taco.

Toyota Dealers have a special Toyota Certified spring stretcher in all their shops. It's a not issue and backed by oem warranty.

The Diff drop seems to be a matter of personal preference. In my opinion a lift of 2 inches or under doesnt need it.

Are u installing the kit urself?

For those of you having the ECGS Clamshell installed, is the dealership actually doing this in tandem with the OEM lift install? If so, did you have to pre-coordinate this non-Toyota part install? Asking, because I don't think I've every heard of a dealership installing non-OEM, let alone customer provided parts. Please share your story and/or approach to convincing Service Dept. to install. I'd like to explore this route, but haven't yet approached service manager. Hell, it makes sense for them to avoid later issues by installing Clamshell, but often times, common sense doesn't prevail.

My dealer actually recommended it. They install them as standard practice when they do lifts. They told me when I bought the truck from them "If you get this lifted somewhere else, make sure they add the ECGS Clamshell bushing. A lot of people don't but we do."

The bushing was included without me even asking but I doubt all dealers do the same.

Good deal and congrats Oggie. Your Dealership/Service Dept. sounds like a unicorn. I'm still going to do my best to try and persuade my dealership to include Clamshell.

I’m extremely confident I can install the rear shocks myself. The front shocks my be a different story. The Deaver aal seems like a great option.
