First Tacoma, first truck, first brand new vehicle. It was delivered to our driveway on 11/1/2018. Just turned over 14k miles on Friday.

Bought it for business use. Initially, I had a hard time justifying the purchase to myself. I was (and really still am) very anti-brand-new. But a friend had recently bought one for his small business, who had similar sentiments towards new vehicles.

What I finally had to realize, is that there are much different factors in play when making personal purchases vs. income-producing investments. Looking back, I would definitely do it over again, and the Tacoma was the perfect choice for us.

I don’t think less of anyone who buys a brand new vehicle for personal use. But I am in agreement with Dave Ramsey that it’s a luxury I’ll only indulge in once I have $1mil + in the bank.
    ________

Also, the resale value on gently used Tacomas is truly mindblowing, especially here in the northeast. You do not get that major hit in depreciation the same as you do with most new vehicles.
    ________

I’ve gotten a few TSB’s/recall notices, but have still not had it in to the dealership. It’s across state lines, about 35 minutes away, and everything is more of a pain with covid. And I’m a little bit lazy when it comes to making appointments

So far, the truck has been performing beautifully. I did do the OVTune, which was a help with the extra weight I’m carrying.

Edit: and it’s going into the shop tomorrow to get upgraded shocks. Went with the Bilstein 5100’s. Hoping it helps with the sailboat action I get on all the frostheaves up here.

Holy cannoli. I’m only on my 5th Toyota. I won’t buy any other brand, now.

Current 2019 in my possession 2 1/2 years. It's my third Tacoma and prior to that a 4Runner. Wife had a Camry for a number of years and then we went with a Honda Accord 6cy. The Honda was a pretty decent car but the seats where the most uncomfortable I ever experienced. I could tolerate for around town, but a 2 hour road trip had me constantly fidgeting plus I hated the cylinder deactivation. We move back to Toyota and got an Avalon which has been great. I guess we're a Toyota family.

95 tercel in 2003 (was 17, my only car payed cash), don't remember the milleage.
2008 yaris sedan with a stick (up to 2020, 106k miles). As much as shit this look like, I loved that car and sometime miss it. It aged very well and was still in great shape, was starting to rust a little bit but the spouse wanted something else.
2017 tacoma sr5 AT that was under my spouse name, we were 50/50 on our car, got a tacoma for the trailer tent/camping. Was only 43k miles when returned. common sense would have suggested to keep it, but you know...
2021 now ¨officially¨ mine, she got the impreza with a stick she wanted, so back to each our own car 95% of time.

We had a Jeep liberty 2008 before the 17 Tacoma. Let me tel you that this website definition of unreliable and how Tacoma are bad is hilarious sometime, to say the least.

1st Toyota and 1st Tacoma. Bought used at 77k in 2016. Just hit 161k and while I’ve dumped plenty of money into it, no “issues”, outside of maintenance, that cost me over $100 so far. And only 2-3 of those issues total. I’ll never go back to my Ford family.
