Nice way to get some fresh air. From the instructions it looks like the scope covers the overflow tank and radiator fill. Is this correct

Big question is "are the results repeatable"?

5-10hp gain shown by a single dyno chart could be attributed to environmental or methodology variance.
When different vehicles are run on different dynos at different times, are the gains seen consistent across all the tests?

It goes over them, but does not cover them completely.

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I believe the AFE momentum full package that was recently released covers the tops, no? It might be more effective at bringing in air at speed because it appears wider(now what the engine does with it is another story), but it would be annoying to look at the levels every fill up and maintain it without removing the scoop. Have you had an opportunity to compare MPGs with the stock?

Some people express concern about hydrolocking, but my IS300 had that style of design from the factory where it fed air from the front. I am thinking of doing some testing in the future with my bluedriver and getting some baselines for IAT, if my O/R 6MT ever gets built.

For those who know my truck, you know I have learned everything that I have done to it from many TW members and I say thank you again.

Now I am still running a stock air cleaner, but I am interested in the Holley CAI, anyone got a link to it? Right now I want to just do more research. Thank you my TW brother's.

How hot does the plastic get sitting atop the radiator. I don’t see any intake manifold air temp data. Seems an obvious data point for a CAI.

I was wondering that myself. I’m thinking the plastic above the rad would turn into a large heat sink. Maybe including some reflective insulation for under the intake on the AFE or Holly kits?
IMO, the stock CAI gets its air from close to some pretty hot heat sources too. Sucking air from a pocket right above all that brake, tire and suspension heat can’t be very cool.
There’s gotta be a better way while still looking good (ie: No desert intakes) Someone really needs to design a kit that uses the scoop or another location away from all the heat.

Tires and suspension are not getting that hot driving on the street. Brakes could possibly be depending on how you are driving. The " heat soak" on plastic is going to be minimal compared to pulling in any under engine air or from its original location

I’ll wait for proof on that claim, i.e. intake manifold temp data. It claims to be a CAI, it claims to draw better than the stock CAI but I’ve seen similar minimal increases just by using a different filter.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ3L-E-ufYo
Some dyno and road tests with a different vehicle
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GS69owXpGdY
Another after removing the carbon filter
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F1JmOKKAgyQ
My takeaway is that yes, a filter can make a slight performance difference but I would not choose to use a high performance filter, it simply doesn’t do the job. If an aftermarket airbox used one then I would not buy that either. Pulling the carbon filter would have similar results for free. Either one would run afoul of CAI intake rules for a result that can be only measured, not felt.

I had a K&N in my old Mustang. Granted, I don't know how long it had been in there and knew nothing about them at the time. However, I believe the car had a little more power with this filter on. After replacing it, I lost a little power, but gained a couple of MPG.
