When I was in the military, some units paid for it while others didn’t. I worked in the private sector for a few years and they did not want to pay for it. However, I worked general aviation and there wasn’t much safety wire there to even begin to justify a safety gun.

We had a couple guns of different sizes on my submarine and they always came in handy for awkward hard to reach spots

Lockwire/safety wire is a thin piece of wire you run between fasteners that keep them from backing out. You run it between two or more bolts/nuts/fittings in such a way that if one tries to loosen the lockwire gets "tighter" and prevents it from moving. Theres twist requirements and tightness requirements and trying to do it in a lot of instances is a pain in the butt.

Several racing associations will still require safety wired bolts on certain parts. I am not great at it, but I haven’t had a ton of practice.

I'm the opposite lol. I could design, build, launch and navigate a ship, but run away like a school girl over 110V household current. LOL

Got an SK 1/2” female to 3/8” male extension today off their steals and deals clearance section. Ordered about 2 weeks ago. Came today.

    Seems very high quality.

Interesting, something you don’t really think of when using an extension on an impact. It makes sense though since an impact isn’t a constant application of energy.
Cool video to watch though, thanks for sharing.

Of course. One thing I was surprised about was that length had more of an effect than the number of extensions linked together. I thought the three totaling 15" was going to do a lot worse than the solid 15".

I think Hooke’s Law applies to this scenario since the extensions are in a way acting as a spring (like a torsion bar on the 80’s Toyota front suspension) that absorbs the temporary applications of force. A short spring will compress less than a long spring given an equal force and spring constant. So three shorter extensions are the three shorter springs that are compressing (or twisting) less than the longer one.

I see torque loss every day at work, it’s a real bitch when using an offset impact adapter.

I have a few small 1/4" like that, mostly for under dash and the ever "pain in the ass" radiator shroud. Did I say the phucking radiator shroud? LMAO

Air has moisture in it and that goes in the motor, not good for the motor. i use my compressor may be twice a month so easy for me to deflate it after use. will be pain to in and out the air every day. and that is noisy too
