It was to put in a basement. I had a crawl space previously with foundation issues. And yes house was on smaller side but now doubled the houses square footage basically. Lifted 60” plus 3’10” basement walls so ended up around 9’ ceiling height in the new basement

Yesterday, installed a 69 Honda Trail 90! Kind of sketchy bringing it home but it was only 5 miles away and the hitch mount came with it. Definitely have to rework it a bit. Going to be the camping bike.

You using your own air chuck with that Smitty compressor? I wanted to do the same but read that it can damage the compressor without screwing on the chuck before kicking on the compressor.

Nailed it! My grandpas old loom. Parents are selling the house and moving out to NM/AZ area and were going to sell it. Grew up looking at that thing, had to bring it home.

Do you think these would help to prevent rodents( squirrels) from getting into the engine compartment? At least from the wheel wells??

I think we all recognize that the ARB product is pretty much the best for what I call full on / rugged recovery. I have no issue with the price. Yes, it is expensive but they are likely recouping a fair amount of R&D and also probably the cost of testing and verification. You get what you pay for, kind of thing.

But to be fair, I don't think people are actually shitting on the demon bracket product. They are really trying to help people understand that, by the manufacturers own admission, they are for aesthetics purposes primarily and not rated for actual recovery. I think a lot of folks here are just trying to make sure people understand that so they don't have any recovery disasters.

That said, I ordered them and returned them for several reasons (they only use two bolts, I felt they were not that strong, etc.). Unfortunately, I had to have them in my hands to make that judgement. I totally agree with you that they would be better served if they made the back of the clamp ride up higher and wrap more around the subframe. I do think you could do a flat tow with them and be just fine. I know of one person who tried more of a ditch pull and said they buckled and bent ... I asked for pictures but didn't get any so I am not sure what happened there.

I do think most people take recovery seriously and just want people to be careful. The BPF one is at least rated. But that said, I am not doing full on recovery -- I am, at most, pulling people who slide off the road back onto the road, or pulling people out of snowbanks, deep snow, etc. I would not call that full on rock climbing recovery. I wouldn't do that with the BPF ... but at least I have the comfort of knowing it is indeed rated. Of course, my first and best option would be to use the receiver hitch.

No, they don't seal up completely - still room for rodents to get past the springs, etc.
