I'll have to keep this in mind the next time I use mdf for a project. I got a sample size jar of some different paint yesterday at Home Depot and added 2 coats. It came out much better this time. Also added 2 coats of spar varnish. Doing the same to the second side today and hopefully will have it installed one evening this week. Thanks again for the tip.

Isn't MDF heavy and weak compared to OSB or plywood? Why MDF?

For what I am using it for, the mdf should be more than adequate. I used it primarily because I already had it in the garage. If it doesn't hold up and I have to replace it I will probably go with a piece of plywood.

Something about the MDF being better at dampening reflections and rattles and more forgiving to volume requirements than plywood is why it's usually used for sub boxes over plywood.

(I'm assuming that's what this is in reference to if not ignore me.)

While I am no audiophile and have never built a speaker box I believe you are correct. I am using it for a small platform behind the driver's seat.

inner tie rods are actually really easy to change with the rack installed.?have done it probably 10x since owning the truck. It’s hard to bend the washers thought once installed. You can turn the steering wheel all the way to one side to access the inner tie rod better too.

To steeldog65, did you install just the front seat jacker OR front and back

I did the back mod early on, made it more comfortable but am seriously looking at those fronts, worried that I’m going to bring the earlier problem back with just a higher seat position.

Thanks, I think I’m going to replace everything when I do my suspension, but I’m definitely not looking forward to it.

Welp, first casualty in 1.5 years of owning this truck. Tore the CV boot on drivers side when offroading last weekend and just now noticed. You guys think I can get away with putting a new boot on there and repacking or should I just replace both CVs? If so got any recommendations? 2015 with 65k miles.
