I really think rolling resistance is much less important on the front. I wouldn’t sacrifice much grip on the front to reduce rolling resistance a bit. Especially on such a capable bike. The DHF really isn’t that draggy up front.

Edited to say FRONT in the first sentence. Reducing rolling resistance in the rear makes a bigger impact than in the front IMO and the front traction is too important to turning to compromise grip beyond a certain point.

The Assegai is a significantly better tire than the DHF, that is if you like grip. It's easily the best front tire I've ever run.

I'm a big fan of the Dissector on my Spur and I'm actually considering running it at both ends. It's a fast rolling tire with decent enough traction for everything I ride.

I’ve heard that. Never ridden one. It’s obviously at the extreme end of the traction spectrum. I have heard it’s definitely more drag though. Heavy too. I’d like to try it just not sure I’m willing to commit the miles to it when the DHF is so solid here in our overall softer dirt (PNW).

Are you still on the stock dissector front recon rear?

I just ordered a set of the long pedals. But I’ll keep my Deity flats in case I go back to normal size.

Got out to coldwater mtn in Alabama for the first time today. Rocky. Fun. Will be back.

This little bike punches way above its travel, and I’m becoming more an Evil fanboi each ride.

Ok we have Following and Wreckoning riders on here. What about the Offering? Anyone have some insight where it falls on the spectrum between the two? Does it ride more like a big Following or small Wreckoning? I think the Following is close to being able to be my one bike quiver, but weight wise the Offering doesn’t give up much. Would be interested in how it pedals and pops in comparison.

There's not much in the way of camping in the park city area, certainly nothing that would be pedalable to good trails. Wasatch state park is the closest campground I know of; there's also some dispersed stuff up above Wasatch state park but it's a decent drive to park city trails.

There's lots of great intermediate XC trails around park city, but the camping definitely leaves something to be desired.

Depends what/how you ride and how often. I can certainly vouch for The Offering as a one bike quiver. I just picked up the new Switchblade and it doesn't feel as nimble as The Offering but I'm finding that it just has a sort of "learning curve" to really get the most out of it. After about 70 miles on it I'm finding the sweet spot. The Offering was much more forgiving where you can just hop on and find it's place. I am coming from a short travel 29'r though.

Unfortunately, yes. I'm not a big fan Recon, but I'm waiting for it to wear out before swapping in a pair of new Dissectors.

The COL is bullshit. I'm out of CO in June, it's official!
But the whole lack of enforcement, it's just a big city thing. I've lived in few bigger cities and it's just how it goes. Move to the outskirts, totally different. That's one of the reasons I moved to Boulder instead (not that it doesn't have it's own issues).

I'm currently running Assegai/Dissector (both in EXO+ MT) combo on the trail bike. It's funny, when I first got it I really liked it as a rear tire. But, I found it sucks at braking traction, and wears stupid fast. I like the cornering traction a lot, but after just under 100 miles, the braking edges are almost worn. The Aggressor lasts way longer, and actually has plenty of grip (on dry).
The problem I see stems from its extremely short knob height. I'll try and snap a pic.
As for a front tire, HELL NO!
**I do ride a bit loose, and like to break traction on the rear often.
Basic PSI recs are riding weight / 7. +2-3 rear, -1 front. You can stray a few from that, but anything more and things can get weird. Unless you're at the bike park, then bumping up more than that is ok since you're hitting things way harder and faster, and grip is less likely an issue.
If you're running the right pressure, there's two things you can do.
    1. Get a thicker casing. Try DD, which I've found to be awesome, but heavy. Sometimes you just have to deal with compromise.
    2. Try inserts like CushCore.

Both of those will provide you with better sidewall stability, and puncture protection to boot.

As said before, Ridewrap every bike. It's a pain in the ass, but it's so worth it. I didn't wrap one of my bikes in the stable, and it's very noticeable when compared to the others. That shit keeps your bike looking good. Protects against heel rub, drops, transport wear, etc.
Just do it when it's new so it's a lot easier and you won't be pissed about not doing it earlier.

Had to get out for a quick Fruita 18rd weekend to ride the trail bike and test out the new RTT setup.
Crazy busy, but my little spot is usually pretty empty.

Nice man! I went to Ray’s the winter before last for the annual Old Fools jam and it was a blast. It also felt nice to be one of the younger guys there
