Some Sunday rerouting. 309LFC wire is a bear to weld with.

Nice. Is there a clamp on the converter side or is it welded to the converter?

Welded to the converter. It was possible to get the 2"flared end to slide between the inner and outer pipe of the converter. This was my initial plan and use a u clamp. Because the outer pipe curves from where it starts coming out of the cat it causes the pipe to angle close to the transfer case. Not knowing which way it would bias after clamping I decided to just weld her up. Left the sleeve clamp at the y so things could still be removed without cutting.

Only thing that may kill that $460 price would be shipping. Other then that I agree. You would be atleast 2-300 in steel alone and then cutting and measuring would be a pain. I know @tgelata made his own so he may have something to add. I know for me it would take a lot more time in the design and mess up department.

Just clicked through the site and it's $700 with taxes and shipping for the 3/16" steel version.

Dang. $700 but then it’s just welding.....I don’t know, takes time to cut and drill holes in 3/16” steel. Would come down to cost to time ratio (varies person to person).

I think I got my skids a while back for $900 on a group buy. Man, when the dollar was on par and the steel prices weren’t crazy. We were also allowed to walk around without masks back then too. Good old days.

just remember, on stock suspension and stock tires, you're going to bang, smash, scrape, cut and feel everything

When I first got into this "toyota game" with the Tacoma I was shocked at what things cost compared to jeep. But the longer I'm hear 1k for a set of skids sounds like a good price.. I----- have-----been-----converted------:)

It’s honestly dumb. I think about the money I spent I could have been way deeper into mods on a Jeep for less. However, there is the reliability stuff too.....not to say Toyota’s don’t have their problems but engine and driveline wise they ain’t too shabby.
