Welcome, There is a meet coming up at AOP next month. The place doesn't have much for tails of stock trucks, but it'll be a good opportunity to meet the people that frequent these threads, and there are usually open seats to ride along on the more aggressive trials.

The TN Dirt Devil is a fun one that any stock 4x4 can do. It’s in the Leipers Fork area. Just gotta be careful to stay off private property. Hit me up, and I can get you GPS route for the Gaia app.

I drove it one time by myself and it wasn’t as fun I anticipated. Would totally be down with meeting up to ride it, with respect to the local residents of course.

Yeah. 90% is really mild but scenic, but there are a couple trickier parts. Last fall they did some road maintenance that actually made it less fun.

Someone above mentioned AOP, and there is also Wooly’s, which is another off-road park.

I haven’t done either of those yet, but I go up to Land Between the Lakes quite a bit. There’s an actual off-road park (Turkey Bay) that I’ve been meaning to check out, but there’s also a ton of old forestry roads that make for some good wheeling and camping.

The Tennessee entrance is about 1:40 from Nashville so it makes for a good overnight trip.

Be careful going to LBL. Stay on numbered roads and make sure the roads are not closed. Park rangers have been harassing muddy 4WD vehicles for the supposed destruction of public property. This year's meet has been moved from LBL to AOP because of this issue.

Interesting! I’ve actually never even seen a park ranger up there. But I also make a point to stay on the roads and check their latest vehicle use map to make sure I’m not going on any roads I’m not supposed to. The Gaia app can trick you if you’re not comparing it to the vehicle use map.

I doubt you'll see them on the trails. It's more likely they'll be watching for muddy trucks as you leave the area.

Ha! That reminds me. I did get pulled over on the way there once. I was about 5-10 miles away from the entrance, and he got me speeding a bit...maybe 10 over right after a speed limit change. He was actually super nice and gave me a verbal warning while telling me to have fun camping.

What sucks about this is that I had an email conversation with someone at LBL and they informed me that any numbered road is 100% legal for any street legal licensed vehicle to drive on.

Unwarranted harassment by the park rangers is sad.

And you never have to leave the numbered roads to get pretty muddy at LBL.

Hey dudes and dudettes, I'm offering a couple of tuning options in the middle-TN area. I can offer a performance tune by PapaRee (any 3rd gen year model except 2021 MT's) and the orange virus tune (only for 2019 AT's). If you're interested just shoot me a PM for questions and details.
