Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately those won't work either. I need the kind that fit in the bed tracks. I'll grab some from Canopy West tomorrow

Be careful. We bought one of those. I mounted it inside the bed on the passenger side bed rail so I could access it from my windoor. Easy to fill and easy to use out the window.
Went Mountain biking a while ago. Trail head was deep in the woods on a very rough road. The waterport ripped off the rail and was laying in my bed. Those things are heavy when filled and it could have easily smashed my bike which I haul mounted in my bed. The rail is bent open where the water port was attached. Sucks. With that being said, they do work well as long as you can mount them securely.

I just returned mine to Costco last week. The threads near where you connect the hose are plastic and stripped out while I was filling it up. 3.8 gallons under pressure exploded on me unexpectedly. At least I wasn't driving. Plastic threads always suck but I didn't think I had it on there that tight.

Anyways, I returned it and bought the 8 gallon Weekender version.

You can make your own pretty easily. I did this. works like a charm for less than 25% of the cost.

I like it but will the PVC be safe enough to keep the water clean, as in no germs, microbes, water born issues, mold. Will it be enough to drink out of. obviously if you use contaminated water surely there will be issues but, will it be safe to drink from. I had a bad experience with water in pipes , storage like this on my last deployment.

You can get a Scepter water can from Sportsman's Warehouse and some parts from Home Depot to build one of your own, or go fancy and build one with a pump.

no, definitely not for drinking water. I would not drink from a road shower either. I run a mild bleach solution through my system after each use and store it with the fill cap open to air out. I do not and would not recommend always driving with it full. if you get in even a fender bender or on a very bumpy trail, it's going to act like a water hammer, break off and destroy whatever it hits.

You’re more than welcome to borrow mine I won’t be using it for a while. I’m in Kent and use a hitch mount.

those are cool! 5 gallons is ideal. I suppose you can always set it on the roof rack in the sun, or where ever in direct sunlight for the day and let it warm up. +5 for the blonde too

I like mine use it to rinse off the pups. I haven’t had any issues as listed above and always used the hitch mount.

The one I use has a schrader valve on the cap to pressurize. I like it because it is easier to haul around/store/refill. It was very easy to build.
