4x4 posts. Going to build a frame and maybe stone fascade. Redoing our whole backyard right now. $$$

The Spa should have been GFCI protected somewhere. Usually at the breaker.

Definitely going to double check this before doing anything. If that's the case, I'll just have to find 20 amp breakers to replace them which may be hard to find and expensive either way. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't have GFCI. Only one bathroom outlet in my home had it when I moved in and it was a new outlet, the other bathroom that didn't have it was using the original outlet from 30+ years ago that fell apart to the touch.

If you're feeding a 50 amp sub, you need to be running 6/3; NOT 10/3! Make sure you have the correct wire gauge for the application first and foremost. Assuming that is 6/3, then you need a proper, weatherproof 50 amp sub (or, you could use a lower amperage breaker in the main), but I would not recommend using the RV panel; it's not the proper application. You need to ensure (as already mentioned) that your supply breaker is NOT a GFCI, and then you can easily run up to 6 15 amp circuits (or 4 20 amp) off of you 50 amp sub. Each 15 amp circuit can have up to 8 outlets. My suggestion would be to feed 20 amp GFCI outlets off of the sub, to a maximum of of four per circuit.

Guys the guy just wants two 120v outlets back there. I told him what to do in order to work with what he has. Replace the double pole 50 amp breaker with a 20. Use the neutral, ground and one red wire to power a gfci and then jumper a regular outlet off that one. Buy a two gang weather proof box and replace that janky one. Done.

Thank you for this info. I think the hardest part right now is trying to find a sub box for this project. Unless you guys here know witchcraft and can find some good links :D I am still considering the possibility of switching out the breaker entirely and just rerunning 14/3 to some outdoor boxes.

If any of you guys are in the SoCal region, let me know. I'll pay you to educate me and help me out with this.

That's probably the best option, or use 12/3 to give you the option of 20 amp outlets, which are nice for outdoor applications.

We'll be having inflatable jumpers and such back here soon every few months. The more reliable the power the better.

Depends on what distribution panel he has. IF its an old FPE XO, then he is right. Good luck finding those breakers. I need to see a picture of the main panel.

I'm up in Castaic if you care to make a trip. You can DM if you're interested/need more info. I'm dead set on getting this figured out.

When I get home this evening, I share images of the panel. I was supposed to take pictures for myself anyway to try and source parts so it'll help us both out to understand the situation better.

That's a drive for me haha but yeah man don't over think this. It's something very simple and I'm sure there are a few other ways to maybe do it but if you have these 4 wires already making it to your main panel from that janky box outside then might as well use those wires and just buy a single pole breaker and a weather proof doble gang box. Go to homeless depot and ask show them a photo of what you want to replace. Show them a photo of your panel and the type of breaker you have and they will show you which one you need. You got this man

Haha, thanks boss. I also have to educate myself a little bit as well on the subject. While the "easy" route is to just throw in a 20amp and take out the 50, the better approach would to be sub box and keep some of that power available for it I ever need it back there again.

Oh no, not looking for any "adapters." Going to do this the correct way, safe for my family, safe for my home.

Yeah its better to rewire. Not saying rip out wire but just rewire it to 110 and new breaker. Easy
