Awesome! You will like it! I built a custom .308 on a Rem 700 action that I shoot 168g out of and I love it!

I should take a pic of it with my all new Leupold Mark 4 setup!

I usually shoot factory match ammo (to lazy to reload) Hornady TAP, Federal Gold Medal, or Black Hills, 168gr BTHP.

Here is my .308 with new Leupold Mark 4 one piece base, Mark 4 30mm medium rings, and Mark 4 3.5 - 10 X 40 LRT.

Did you paint it? Looks B/A!!!

I got the 9mm about a week or so ago... I've already got about 500 rds through it, and it quickly moved to the top of my favorite gun list.... You kinda missed out, springfield has a deal now where if you bought the gun before today, you get 3 hi-cap mags and a mag pouch for free...

Also just picked up a Spikes Tactical Jolly Roger lower... pics maybe tomorrow?

Wish we were closer and we could work something out, i have same handgun in .40 full size and wish I would have gotten a smaller frame for easier conceal carry.

I've not been here in a while, and I saw you were asking for some suggestions on where to start with the Rem 700. To better answer, can you tell us what length and weight (Sporter, regular or heavy) barrel you have?

I've been playing with the 308 for years now. All I use in Varget it seems these days. Doesn't matter if I'm in North Dakota (15°) or Texas (110°) its consistent. Personally haven't worked any for the Rem action, but your in the ball park from what I can see, short of having a shorter barrel (22" or less).

These are for my personal rifles, and without loading a dozen or so 5 packs to test, I can't definitively tell you if your in the sweet spot.
My Kimber has the light 20" barrel and anything over 43.8 grains blows the groups out, and 43.6 gr. Varget with the Nosler 168 SP is the sweet spot.
My M1A seems to love 44 Gr. with the Nosler 168's. But I'm sure I'm lacking some down range hitting power and If I were to hunt with the M1A I'd be prone to loading the 44.4 gr behind the 168's as the group is just a hair over 1" MOA (well within
any hunting application) with another few 100 FPS of energy down range.

If your shooting the longer barrels (24"+) you can even experiment with compressed loads not to exceed the max (46? is in my head, but look it up to be sure). Just be aware that, in my experience, is Varget doesn't compress particularly as well as say a ball [BL-C(2)] since Varget is a rod powder. The OAL of the 150Gr. SIE's your working up is shorter than the 168's you may yield better results.

I'd recommend working up 5 round each of 43,43.5,44, 44.5 and 45 grains and get some good 5 shot groups. If none of those hit the sweet spot, take the best two and divide them into 10ths and narrow it down. Ex. 43.5 is 1.2 MOA, 44 is 1.0 MOA, and the rest blow out. Load 5 rnds each of 43.6, 43.7, 43.8 and 43.9 and choose the best out of them.

Be safe, be particular when loading and you will yield good results.
