Hi all, I’ve been lurking here a while and can’t seem to find the answer to my frame question.
I have a 2004 V6 Double Cab 4x4 that I just bought knowing it needed frame repair, turns out there’s no way to salvage the frame.
So, will a 2004 Xtracab 5 lug frame be made to work if I move the body mounts?

The front suspension is completely different between the 4x4s and 5 lugs, so I think it'd be more than just moving body mounts. I think (tho not sure) the engine mounts are different as well.

But I guess anything is possible with enough cutting and welding.

Might be easier just to find a busted up (but rust free) 6 lug frame.

I have found a few good frames, but the transportation costs are more than the part. This 5 lug is relatively local, but if it won’t work that’s good information.

The easiest way to do it with a 5 lug frame would be to splice the back end of the frame on to your existing four wheel drive frame. The front Three cross members are completely different on a 5 lug frame than on a six lug frame. Plus you still need to move the rear cab mounts back to make the cab and bed work.
Also @jbrandt is correct about the motor mounts if the engine and transmission are different.
All that extra work you're going to have to do maybe worth spending the money just shipping a frame out from the West coast.

The guy selling it thinks so. He still wants $1,400 for it. I got him down to $1,000 but still not sure its worth the hassle to me.

I've got a prefect double cab frame in eugene. You don't want a 5 lug frame, they have different crossmembers.

yeah, mine's got rust in the wheel wells under the flares. and behind the mud flaps. if it wasn't cost prohibitive I'd consider a new bed, but as it stands it will pass inspection :D

$500 . I did remove the rear cab mounts and front bed mounts. Rust free and straight.

If you're serious message me. You're only two hours away.
