    Hello.

My horn stopped working when the steering wheel was only in the straight position. Diagnosed and figured out I needed to replace the clock spring. I replaced the clock spring and the horn works again. However, now my TCS light is on.

I have tried recalibrating the VSC via the OBD pin 4 and pin 12 trip etc. but that did not work.

I'm thinking it may be an issue with the rotation of the steering wheel sensor? Any suggestions?

Note that this was my second time replacing the clock spring. I went through the whole replacement before realizing the new clock spring didnt have the port for the steering wheel controls. Therefore I had to reinstall the old clock spring for a few days before I could get the correct part. Is it possible that I messed up the steering wheel angle sensor? Is there a way to reset the sensor without a scanner?
I read that the sensor may be out 360deg. I thought I was careful about not spinning the clock spring but it's hard to not "push the red button that says do not push."

    Thank you

Check the OBDII codes and report back. That Light could be caused by a number of things.

The steering angle sensor is separate from the spiral cable (clock spring). Did you remember to transfer it to the new part?

I checked for codes with my generic obd scanner but there were no codes thrown. Im not sure if that scanner will read this type of error. I may have to take it somewhere to read the codes.

I did transfer the old steering sensor to the new clock spring.

you need one capable of reading ABS and SRS codes, they are under $100 these days and you'd break even from taking it to a place to scan for you and tell you what's wrong.

    lol

OT, but one time when I was probably like 7 years way back in the day, the family was on vacation in Boston.
We were sight-seeing the Freedom Trail or something in downtown and we crossed this street where they were doing construction.
In the middle of the road right next to the crosswalk there was this tall, skinny, wooden pylon with yellow and black stripes that had a bare copper wire sticking out of the top. There was a large warning sign on it that said "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE" (This was in the 60's before OSHA I guess)

I was always inquisitive, still am, and I've always tinkered with electrical stuff. Well I stopped and starred at that thing. I starred and starred. ----I was this close to touching that wire just to see if it was live. I don't why, I guess because it looked so harmless. My mom looked back and saw me standing there in the middle of the road and yelled for me to catch up. I gave it one last glance and decided to move on. To this day I wonder if I'd be here now had I reached out and touched that wire.

No idea on the clockspring, I still haven't fixed mine yet. Same deal, no horn unless turning.

Based on what I see on a daily basis in Boston, not much has changed in regards to OSHA...good story.
Unfortunately the horn is a requirement around here to keep from being hit.

Ill post back when I have the codes, maybe a week or so.

I know all of you are anxiously waiting.

I ended up getting a Tactrix cable and Techstream(ultra cheap version of course ). I’ve been wanting something like this for a long time so it was a good opportunity.

I ran the scan with Techstream and got the code U0126. This basically means a communication error with the Steering Angle Sensor Module.

So I took the steering wheel off again and checked the connectors for bent pins and loose wires etc. Nothing was bent or broken. Then I remembered unplugging additional connectors than was necessary the first time I took the spiral connector out.

All in All, it turns out that the dash light goes out if I plug ALL of the connectors back together...DTC’s clear as well. Go figure.

At least I don’t feel stupid.

Thanks for the push to get new software.
