I need to shorten the muffler about an inch. Have to be careful to not hit a rafter pulling in the shed. I’ve shortened it once.

So I walked in today and was told "You've been signed up for a machinist course at the local community college." Uh what? I was super confused considering I've worked here 4 years, have a 2 year degree in machining, and a whole other year prior experience at my last place of work. Apparently my bosses (yes plural....) decided to send me to get feedback on whether it's a good program or not.... So starting in May I'll be on days for 4 weeks to go to this crash course on machining. They expect to cover in 3 days each week, Manual Lathes, Manual Mills, CNC Lathes and CNC Mills. I hope its just supposed to be a refresher? Not sure you could really take someone with no machining experience and get them running CNC in that amount of time, maybe with additional on job training too, but then the classes are kinda redundant. Most I do here is change tools, press buttons and check parts. Glorified operator more than a machinist at this point.... Guess it makes sense when you look at it like that.

Needless to say I was a little bit miffed. Since they never told me about it, just walked into an email with a schedule. 730am to 430pm wed-fri. I work nights so that was a bit of a surprise too. I told them all or nothing. I wasn't going to work till 11-12pm tues and then turn around and be at the local school at 730am.

I had something like that happen when they told me "hey you're going to a first aid class on Friday at 10 am" and I get out of work at 3 am with an hour commute home, and a half hour commute from home to the class. o_O

And so it begins, every day for ~6 weeks. I can handle it, and eat a lot, the rest goes to good friends.
