Probably not the cams then if it was happening before also. No idea on the proper technique to tighten. I brought it back to the alignment shop and had them redo it.

 

Dad texted me with a screenshot of the frame recall notice from Toyota, didn't even know i qualified (2016). Should I bother? I just put some weld on sliders, will that disqualify me?

I’d have the dealer look at it just to get the extended warranty. If you spray your frame you shouldn’t need the warranty anyway, but it’s a good to have item.

Take care of the frame and you should be good. Woolwax or fluid flim sooner than later.

 

I woolwax'd for the winter, ill definitely have to reapply but my frame looks good

When those got burned on, did you touch up the paint on the other side of the frame? Also, did your guy weld all the way (top/bottom/sides)?

My sliders have four mounting/welding plates on each slider and are shaped like this.

There wasn’t enough clearance to weld that straight section on the top. I was worried about water spraying in there so I hit each of those with 3m seam sealer. I also found a couple holes in the frame from the factory that backed up to the center of one of the mounting plates (one on each side of the frame iirc). I also used the seam sealer to fill those holes and gaps to ensure water cant get in. Its supposed to be crack/shrink resistant.

 

He got a far in as he could up top and I retouched it, gonna look up that seam sealer though

Go to the dealer let them go through tbe inspecttion process then your covered. Besides the results are on the inspection sheet with thier letterhead.

My frame passed plus the process was applied, but my frame is Fluid Filmed annualy so i was better off going in.

Hey, we are pretty close in milage. Posted this a couple weeks ago.

 

Hello all,

I have been in the process of changing/ upgrading aged parts on my truck which is now at 135k miles. Now it is time for the front end suspension. Ive priced out my project labor with my regular mechanic, but I wanted to check some other places nearby. I live in Bristol, and Im open to suggestions from anyone. Obvisouly since this is a lot of parts, I already know that my truck will be at the shop for a whole day lol. I have a long list of parts that are getting replaced that I have already collected.

-Bilstein 6112 shock/springs (assembled on the 1st clip)
-1/4" spacer for driver side to fix taco lean
-OEM lower control arms (instead of just placing the bushing and u-joint)
-OEM outer tie rods
-OEM Cam bolts (seized up)
- All of the OEM hardware to replace the rusted and seized ones that will be found for the listed parts.
- Changing to Stainless steel brake lines front/rear

I was able to get a full OEM parts cart built by McGeorge Toyota Online Parts tech that included all of the nuts and bolts before running into an "oh shit" situation. That way, the ones that are stuck can get torched or cut and replaced with shiny new hardware. They have great prices there.

Since I am replacing everything that is attached to each other, instead of just changing the control arms which requires the suspension to be disconnected anyways. I know some of the estimated labor time will be dropped. But obviously seized up hardware takes some time with PB. I have already replaced the rear shocks with 5100s and have the OEM leaf spring TSB swap.
