Was doing 40mph when another driver failed to yield and tried to turn onto the freeway right in front of me. Tried to slam my brakes but it didn't matter. Nailed his passenger side causing him to do a full 180. All airbags deployed and doors didn't want to open so I'm assuming the frame got bent a little.

    20210405_181433.jpg

If they total her I'll be sad. Slept so many nights in her. Music festivals, national parks, working events, towing my storage trailer thousands of miles on cross country drives, joy rides with my wife with the moon roof open, etc.

Guessing we'll find out later what happens to her!

Fwiw, I'm fine, my left shin took a beating as it hit the under dash but it's cosmetic. Other driver was pretty mentally shook up but all good. I gave him a hug and reminded him they were just items and easily replaced and that we were both fine.

Glad you’re ok. Hope he’s ok too. Things can be replaced. Too bad, but for your beloved taco is definitely totaled with the airbags deployed and door can’t be opened. Time to shop for another ride

Sad day. Glad you are ok!

    I heard you have a hankering for yellow GTI's ;) What's next?

I'm on my third Taco, second 3rd gen, and this one is not going anywhere. Heard that before...

Damn that sucks, glad you were both okay that’s all that matters. Sometime we take for granted that some people don’t get to walk away from car accidents. Sounds like you’re taking it well best of luck and hope you find yourself in another Tacoma.

Sorry to see this. I echo everyone else and I'm glad everyone seemed healthy leaving the scene. Look forward to seeing what you get to replace the Tacoma!

Agree. Glad you're doing good. Amazing how the grille looks pretty much in tact. Also pretty impressed you were calm enough to give the guy a hug. My adrenaline wouldn't have allowed that, so you're a better man than me. Bright side is it looks like there is a new truck in your future.

Glad to hear you're ok! I had the exact same thing happen when a minivan pulled out in front of me while I was going about 60mph. My shins were super sore for about a week from that little airbag below the steering wheel. These little trucks are super safe in a head on collision.

I would suggest you start shopping around for a replacement.

OP, glad you are ok. As other have said vehicles can be replaced.
@WZ00R2 that second pic looks like something out of a car insurance or vehicle manufacturer commercial. Both vehicles all banged up, airbags deployed and the driver just stepping out of the vehicle completely unscathed. I definitely like that pic for that reason.

You have a good heart Sir! Many in your situation would have handled this differently, but you chose compassion! Good karma heading your way.

That's too bad about the truck. I would sure be bummed out too. The good thing is you got to walk out with just a few bruised parts. You should probably start prepping for getting a new vehicle. And good luck.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Glad to hear everyone is okay. That's the important part of the equation. Like you said, things can be replaced; lives can't.

Look at the bright side, maybe you can get a new Taco with OEM LED headlights now.

That sucks big time. I'd be pissed! you treat your baby like gold for years, then some fucHead totals it. Pay off the insurance for the totaled rig, keep it for a parts truck, and buy a new one.
