3rd gen sport coilovers w/ 5100s Q

Couldn't find much info on this. So here we go.

Before I go ahead and install I had a quick question.. I finished gathering everything up last week and installing everything on Wednesday + alignment. I was given the black hitachi suspension/coils for free from a 2019 trd sport (7k miles) and I plan on swapping the coilovers to the 5100s. My question is... should I go with a lower setting on the 5100s due to the 3rd gen coilovers? I'm trying to figure out if the 3rd gen coilovers give a 2nd gen 3/4 or a full inch. (I currently have 285s and cmc)

Im wondering the same thing. I know people use the complete 3rd gen suspension and get like 3/4 to 1 inch lift up front. but I dont know if its because the spring or the shock seat height. I would look into the spring heights.

 

Right on, there's not much on this topic. I don't have another set of coilovers to compare other than the ones on the truck. I would like to find a definite answer before I jack something up lol. I suppose I could google spring heights

 

Yeah for sure. I was just looking into getting 5100's. Where did you get yours from? And I was also seeing if I could get someones 3rd gen coils because a lot of those guys upgrade their suspension

read that whole thread. On the second page one guy has done it before and he uploaded a picture.

 

I bought them from an awful vendor because of the good price (stay away from "suspension connection"). The bilsteins showed up ok and packaged kinda weird but it was a freaking nightmare getting the other part of my order. I would suggest a reputable and well-known vendor for 1500s.

Depending on your location, there's usually a local buy/sell/trade thread. That's where a fellow member unloaded 2 pairs of 3rd gen suspension and 1 set of coilovers for free. Wouldn't hurt to ask around either

 

Nice find! So what I got from that thread is the 3rd gen coilovers will give 3/4 to a 1" of lift and having the 2.5 setting on the 5100s is doable...
