Recently bought the westcott lift kit for my 2019 TRD Pro. Since I don’t have a garage I brought it to a shop to install. I asked them about doing an AAL to compliment the 1.5” lift in the front. They said they had their own AAL. Since they do a lot of suspension work I figured why not give them a try. Well when I got home the truck definitely was sitting about 2” higher in the rear. I peaked under the truck to see what lead the replaced and it looks like they just switched the bottom leaf. The bottom leaf is the overload spring right? I’ve attached a picture of the leaf they gave back to me.

they said the spring they added was good for 0-300#, but when I was towing my small vintage camper with probably a 300# tongue weight it seemed to be sagging 1-2 inches. So....

is just changing the overload spring really an AAL? I thought they would actually add a leaf? Do I need to call and bitch them out or is this an acceptable method for a 1-2” lift? I tried searching but just found different recommendations and didn’t find info on what the actual AAL is. Thanks and sorry for the noob question.

Usually a single AAL gains height by forcing the existing leaf pack into a higher arch. This gives you lift, but doesn't necessarily give you additional weight capacity. The stock leaf pack sags at the slightest addition of weight. I am not sure adding the overload leaf back into your pack would help. The change in the arch from the AAL would probably make it so the overload leaf would not function as originally designed.

Take a pic of your leaf pack. They probably added the 3 leaf AAL and not the single.

It was just the very bottom spring. You can kinda see in the pic that it’s the only clean one. And it’s the only one they gave me back since I asked for the old parts.

Some kits are a single leaf, and instruct you to take out the overload. I did my dad's second Gen and left the overload in. They're technically not wrong.

It's a single and if they took out the overload it shouldn't have a net 2" more in the rear.

I'd put some weight in the bed and drive it around. Take the weight out and see where it's at.

Thanks guys. I guess it seems right. I think @Fish.Taco.Ma explained my set up. I guess it’s legit just wasn’t sure. It seems to be pretty level so I’m not concerned. I took measurements before and after the suspension work, but I accidentally threw them out. If I add more weight I might just go with a while new leaf pack or something more substantial, but for now I think it’s fine. Appreciate the info. So much to learn.

It’s the one I got from 88Rotors. They said it was one they developed in house. They are a local installer out here
