I also figured out who the Karen is in my local association.

    she’s the VP.

so yeah...the VP pushes Trailforks as the end all be all.

def makes me less interested in participating with that group

Looks like 10/2-10/9. So Sunday 10/3 is my only available weekend day. I'd probably just look for a bike rental I think. I've never traveled with a bike and don't have a case, but I guess I have time to look in to that. I can probably bum some wheels to get to either Bham or Huntsville for a day. I'll keep in touch as it gets closer.

A Sunday would work for me, I could possibly come to a weeknight ride at gville too. I know locals over there though and could at least get you trail suggestions. You’ll like the state park, if not for the trails just the scenery and views

look at guntersville outfitters as the local bike shop.

I'm for sure out. Wedding is on Friday 10/1, so we've got 10/2 - 10/3 to spend with family that came from out of town and then honeymoon.

And if you come to Huntsville I’m obviously in no matter the day really.

A coup is even more of an option now...

But really though, if you do get more involved I think there are ways to make the "policy" better.

I like the enthusiasm...my recommendation: give her a bunch of good ideas, that she can't say no to, then slide in a "trailforks is not official" policy when she is too busy to notice, bada bing bada boom you win

I just meant idk how involved I will get. Things move quite slow around here, and it would irritate me. Doesn’t seem to matter how motivated the group is or isn’t. Plus everything is hiking priority biking secondary, so I’m kinda more of a use, and pay my membership stuff, but let others deal with the bs. I prefer riding with close friends than with groups of who knows who anyways

If the Sunday ride destination is Coldwater (or that area) I’ll run over and join.

I am usually too busy to bother with this stuff too.

I bet this lady is in charge of the group Facebook page I was creeping on the other day. I saw the “welcoming” Monday night ride message. It’s the tone that gets me but then I’m being a Karen for saying something.

ps. My wife’s name is Karen

Yep it’s almost a given when she has to give a name for a food order, etc. almost everyone cracks a joke. She has been named the “cool Karen” at a couple of our frequently visited establishments for what it’s worth.
