Was wondering if I can run h9 in the housing or can not? Or what people suggest?

No, sir. Your best bet, for better light output, would be for an aftermarket fog.

For $200, the Diode Dynamics SS3 Sports were a huge upgrade for me

You could go with a harness for H16 to H11 but there would be so much cutting involved it probably would ruin the fog light assembly.
The BST forum may have some H11 OEM fogs you can swap easily.
As mentioned though, depending on budget and desire, the DD SS3 fogs are going to be your best bet.

even if you could without cutting, don't use H9 in a foglight as it has no glare cap

I couldn’t get h11 bulbs to fit in the h16 housing properly, the tabs are slightly different. Stick with h16

It’s actually pretty easy to do but doesn’t really help. It provides slightly more light if you plan on using them as an extra set of “driving” lights. If you have a good set of side cutters a small snip to one of the 3 prongs on the bulb and they will drop right in. I tried it with 2 different set of bulbs h11 and h9. I replaced them with DD SS3 fogs and they just simply work.
