I don’t have anything yet, but my plans are a cb and ham.

Most likely I’m going to have a NMO mount attached to the ditch light brackets on both sides (Rago). Then I’ll have one side for ham and the other for cb. Planning on not having the antennas mounted all the time but only when needed.

I’m leaning towards the Yeasu FTM-400DR and Uniden CMX760.

I’d get a pl-259 bracket / antenna / cable. The NMO ones are typically made to be mounted through a roof / trunk and usually aren’t waterproof (they are exposed on the bottom side)

    Thanks for the tip

I did notice that some aren’t sealed but eventually stumbled upon some that are. But either way I’ll check those out because I’m all ears for a better solution.

I wanted the Rago rear bracket but my tailgate doesn’t have enough clearance. Maybe by June/July I can get the Firestick with the Caliraised rear mount and run it through the grommet behind the backseat. I won’t need to pull over to put my antenna back on my roof @ the pipeline.

Do you have your ham license? I've been thinking about taking the technician test. I've heard it's not too bad

Yes I just got it like a week ago. I took it online via zoom which was kind of weird but it wasn’t too bad as long as you’ve looked over the questions a few times in advance.

I'll have to look into that. It seems like having both ham and cb available is the way to go

My CB works fine. What is so horrible about it?

So if I were to stay on frequencies between 462-467Mhz I could use ham w/o tech license?

I think it's just old technology and there's better stuff out there
