I have it on my 09 and works pretty good for hooking up trailers....I have found that the LED rear tail lights seem to make it possible to utilize the camera at night as well.

Its built in to the mirror so when you hit reverse nothing happens? If not take it back and have then install it.

They should all have the camera, but not all of them will have the screen in the mirror. That costs extra.

The install would be too expensive.
To me,the backup camera isn't a big deal.It is good for hooking up trailers but the screen is too small.

There are plenty of aftermarket rear cam setups varying between 100 to 800+. What I would definitely stay away from are the wireless ones from Walmart etc. They have alot of interference problems such as viewing clarity. Anything smaller than a 3.5 screen is just a waste.

I don't really haul anything so it doesn't help me hooking up a trailer. However, I back in just about everywhere I go, so it helps me get "just close enough" to make others nervous... :)

The LED tail lights absolutely make it easier to use at night.

The only problem I've seen is when it's rainy or foggy, the lens gets wet or fogged up. Then, you really can't see anything out of it.

Yeah, the screen is small and I wouldn't use it for much, but it's just enough detail for backing in to places (and hooking up a trailer I guess :))

I just got a 2009 reg cab. Are you saying everything is there except the mirror?

All the wiring should be there, but look at your tailgate handle. Does it have a camera in it? If not, you'll need that too.

The electroluminesent mirror that the camera displays on is part of the SR5 package so the base truck has the camera but not the mirror to play it on. I'd see how much the mirror is. I have it in my new Access Cab and it is really nice backing up to a post or wall. You can get right up to it and tell when you have an inch left.

The mirror from Toyota lists at $600.
From Gentex, which is part of Mito, manufacturers the mirror for Toyota. They sell it for 320 or so for the 2.5 screen and 399. for the 3.5 screen.
All Toyota trucks have the cam in the tailgate. Open the tailgate, you will see a black harness on the bottom of the gate going into the bottom of the bed. A quick way to find out if you have the cam is quite simpler.....look in your glovebox and you will see a plastic bag, with two connectors in it and a warning label attached to the outside of that bag informng you to disconnect the wiring before removing the tailgate and putting those supplied plugs on the disconnected wires to keep dirt out of them.
