Random question, anyone here ever floated a basement wall with steel studs? I've been searching the google and can't find a detail for it. Looks like slip track is intended for vertical deflection, but I'm not sure if I can get it, or if it provides enough vertical movement to 'meet code'.

I greatly wish I could agree with you. Friday is a 2x4 to the face of days, whereas Monday is getting hit by a Mack truck.

Had a side hustle doing this back in day. I think we got our drawing from local building code dept but can't remember.

Edit Found Denver Doc on it, most everywhere has these specific Basement finishing guides.

Yah I'm familiar with how to do it using wood studs (did a wall in my parents basement), but I'm not sure the same technique would work using metal studs when you go to drive a nail through the bottom plate into the PT plate.

I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.
