    What the HELL!!!! i only get 16.9 to 17 at best as my Avg MPG. I don't have a lead foot either. i've had my ultragauge connected for over 3months now. i only drive mostly city streets and average speed is about 35mph to 50mph. i have an 08 double cab. how are you getting so much better mpg than me?

    This was a 160 mile road trip and I used cruise control(plus I had 300 lbs in the bed).....Around town I get about 16 mpg.

    Its called Ultra Gauge. you missed out on the group buy a few months back. cost us only $52. but regular price is about $60, but you have to do a mail in rebate. very handy device. i like it better than the Scangauge.

    whew! thanks for clearing that up...thought i just had bad luck or something with my truck.

    No problem............ What got me was that I was sure I was going to lose quite a bit more mpg with the weight in the back of the truck.

    maybe cause like you said, you were on cruise control so the extra weight didn't matter much since you were on a constant speed. I just want to get to 18mpg and i'll be happy.....for a while.

    Well I'm pretty happy w/what I am getting in the meantime . Maybe when they change the winter fuel out I will gain 1-2 mpg. Either way,its nothing to worry about. I'm just happy I own and drive a Toyota.

    with 3" lift and 285's I have to add 5-7% when figuring out MPG by odometer. Wish I could remember the website that showed me the difference in tire size. Makes sense since a larger tire roles further than a smaller one. After I figured that out(factoring %), my MPG is OK I guess. But once you factor in rolling resistance, wind resistance, etc it's a push. Who frigging knows unless your a math guru. All I know is when I'm rolling down the hwy I can almost watch the gas gauge move, never mind when I'm pulling my boat :)

    Very true! My commute to work is only 4 miles each way. I tracked my mileage on longer trips and it was much better.

    everybody keeps talking about the winter blend. That'll (should by science's argument) get you about .36 mpg less on an average of 18 mpg. Not really noticeable. I don't know if that holds true for ethanol blends, or if they continue 10% ethanol in the winter in those areas where 10% ethanol is mandatory (for smog's sake).
    You know if you're getting ethanol by pump labeling in all 50 states. 1%=label.

    IT may be more the cold temperatures causing mpg losses. Warm up times, more time spent on high idle more time with the a/c compressor running, thicker engine, and gear oils, time in 4x4. Not to mention cold intake air running the car rich (choke mode till the engine heats the intake pipe?) Ice cold air is also inefficient at combustion. We don't have heat risers anymore right? According to my obd reader, the intake air stays darn cold in these trucks (v6). More wind resistance in cold weather as well. Not to mention those of you that REALLY have winter can be carrying around a couple hundred pounds in dirt and ice on your undercarriage.
    All you got in the summer to worry about is overly hot temps. But the engine corrects for that worst you might notice is a .5-2% drop in hp over 110 F.

    I'd like to have an engineer tell me where all the MPG went over the last 20 years.
    In the 80s you could get a reliable car branded Toyota or Honda (again, not the american blasphemy toyota turned into) and it would get 25 city 40 highway easily if it was a 5 speed (thats actually sticker MPG you could do better) and that was me driving like a young idiot. Is it just the super mega insane ultra thoughtless moronic... American thirst for horsepower numbers or is getting the emissions down THAT wasteful? I know I can smell you idiots that have taken off your catalytic converters from a block away but you don't get any mileage out of it besides we had catalytic converters back since '81 mandatory and 70s stock. Cars smelled at least about the same since then, I've never owned an exhaust gas analyzer though.
    I think it's probably just the american version, as I own a japanese built toyota that sells in foreign markets (2006) and it gets 35mpg if you flail the hell out of it.

    Before i had my exhaust system put on I was getting roughly 18 mpg however after i put dual flows with 2.5 in pipe ive increased up to around 20 mpg intill I want to make it loud that usually drops the gas back down :)
