Found a lost dog in a subdivision in Fort Washington after dropping off a DoorDash order; I was about to leave the neighborhood when this husky ran across the street in front of my truck. As I drove past her, she looked at me like she wanted to play. It was raining fairly hard and there wasn’t an owner to be found so I figured something was up and pulled over; I got out of the truck and called the dog over, taking a gamble on her being friendly. Luckily, that gamble paid off and she was very friendly. She came right over, and her name tag revealed her name was “Winter”. Her name tag also had an address and phone number, but the phone number was hard to read. I punched the address into my phone and it turns out that it was a half mile away; By car, that’s not far, but for a domestic dog to go that far on foot in a short period of time is incredible in my opinion!

I beckoned Winter into the Tacoma, and she hopped right in without hesitation; I made it to the house in like two minutes, and unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of Winter in my truck...

So I got out of the truck (leaving Winter in), and rang the doorbell; A woman answered the door and told me that they’d just discovered she’d escaped (she was not outside in the yard, but escaped from inside the house). She told me her husband had seen me pulling into the driveway and assumed I must have found their dog; I was thanked profusely and went on my way...

With the exception of the Wendy’s on 611 in Warrington, I am never picking up DoorDash at Wendy’s again until the damn pandemic is over!

All of them except the one in Warrington are drive-thru only and I just got stuck behind a guy with a huge order...

    :annoyed:

Plus, being able to use the bathroom is really nice!

There is one Walmart about two miles from my house, and another about five miles away...

It’s always been the farther one (in the shittier area) that the app attempts to send me too!

Got an order going from a pizza place in Warrington to the Walmart roughly a mile away; Customer (a Walmart employee) was not happy that I didn’t want to go into the store and hand them their order...

I don’t know why the staff think it’s funny to have everyone’s posts in reverse; It was funny at first but now it’s gotten old; Anyway, I immediately called DoorDash support and the guy seemed to take my side.

The person I was delivering to seemed to think I was obligated to follow their instructions to a T, just because they’d submitted them already...

Also, what’s weird is that a short 30-something white guy came out to collect the food (not even wearing a Walmart uniform I might add), but a subsequent text I got from the customer contained one of those personalized avatars and it was a black woman... o_O

Still don’t know if the guy who came out to the truck was the customer; The customer’s name was either initials or one of those “designer” names, and I seriously couldn’t tell if it was a man’s or a woman’s name...

Well it’s been over four hours since that happened, and my ratings haven’t gone down (rating changes immediately when somebody leaves you a positive or negative review)...

Some of these customers really fucking push it! If you live an apartment or are staying in a hotel that is one thing, but if you live in a house I leave it at the door - NO EXCEPTIONS. I will also honor your request to not knock or ring the doorbell, but contacting the customer just wastes my time.

On Saturday evening, I picked up an order at a pizza place; The pizza was ready practically when I picked it up, but then I got a request to pick up from Miller’s Ale House in Willow Grove, less than two miles away...

Miller’s was busy, understaffed, and as result absolutely swamped; I kept getting the runaround from the employees, and when I walked back to the area where they kept the new orders (not in a restricted/employees only area) I got bitched at.

I texted both customers, and the recipient of the orders from Miller’s was fine; The woman who had ordered the pizza turned into a Karen and expecting me to leave the ale house, drive the pizza to her house, and then drive back to the ale house and pick up the other guy’s order which was being delivered within a mile and a half of her house...

Yeah, I’m not making the same trip twice!

    :luvya:

I finally got the Miller’s order and headed to the Karen’s house. I was surprised when a large Asian guy came out to get the order. He even gave me a cash tip in addition to the in-app tip; He lived in an an older townhome development and like I usually do I was asking about the neighborhood (Buy or rent only? Homeowner’s Association? Gas heat or electric heat?; You know, the usual). It was at this point that an older white woman came outside and told the Asian guy not argue with me; We both said we weren’t arguing, and the woman just ignored me and went back inside...

After that fiasco, I am NEVER picking up at Miller’s Ale House again!

Got another entitled customer yesterday; This one was at a hotel...

Even before the pandemic I hated delivering to hotels because it was a waste of time and on a couple occasions the front desk refused to let me go to the customer’s room. This asshole still expected me to deliver to his room after I told him I only had my first shot (Smh means “Shaking my head”)...

    6DFAD08B-BCC4-4687-9F4C-38E19CABF3F7.jpg

It’s called DoorDash! I shouldn’t have to park my truck and go up two or three floors to leave at your door! Even apartment residents are really starting to push it, but I still deliver to them.

Luckily, most of my customers live in single-family homes, townhouses, and the occasional condo. It can be a bit difficult to find the right condo, but these are still fairly easy to locate...

This was not long (maybe a day or two...?) after I found a husky wandering around a Toll Brothers neighborhood in Fort Washington; I had previously delivered to this guy’s house pre-pandemic (late 2019...?) and immediately recognized the house as belonging to a young guy with a husky. The husky, ironically named Dash, recognized me and was incredibly excited to see me again...

You have to deal with all kinds of people and put up with lots of crap delivering food. Back in the 80's the security guards from the Community College ordered a bunch of pizzas and drinks on a Sunday when they were not open to the public. I pulled up in front of the entrance doors got everything out and had the soda fountain drinks balanced on top and a cop pulls up and says it's a handicap parking spot. I proceeded to mention the college was closed and the food was for the security guards but he insisted l put everything back into my car and drive down around the corner to park. If the college had been open that day l never would have parked there but l didn't think it was a big deal since they were closed.

Never had to deal with a cop over a handicap parking space, but back in 2011 some fat guy in a Subaru turned into a male Karen and flipped out at me because I was parked in a very poorly marked handicap spot (didn’t realize I was)...
