More east - - - > I guess they call it "mill Park". I spent several years in nopo. I came from Chicago 5 years ago, and I guess I'm over the city life.

My corp office is in Chicago. I dread it every time I have to fly back there. Spent about 5 years in Arlington heights / Crystal Lake area as a kid too.

Nice, we used to skateboard on Tabor when I was a kid.

I grew up in the Clackamas-Gladstone area, but born in Roseburg. One of my brothers still lives in Gladstone, the other in Hillsboro.
    Fuck that place. :annoyed:

Ah yes the burbs... I spent 10 years in Chicago proper- Humboldt pk, South loop, Albany pk. But grew up out in the cornfields by starved rock state pk.

I'd avoid Portland - I work in the city, otherwise I would not have to be so close.

    Chicago proper, ahhhh.....gross lol

I only need Portland for the airport. My current job allows me to live anywhere on the West Coast as long as it's within reasonable distance of an airport. Most of my responsibilities are flying around and visiting customers and distributors.

Of course, I'm also planning on being retired in 2 months or so when GME makes me more money than cristos.

Ya, I spent way to much time in Chicago. Pdx airport is much better than ohare or mdw for sure.

I'll retire with you, hopefully. Or atleast continue working less

PDX is hands down one of my favorite airports in the US, and I've been through a lot of them. RNO is excellent as well (where I currently am)

There's a PHO restaurant at PDX that's quite simply amazing.

Reno has great outdoor access and no income tax, I get why you are looking in WA. Either way for me, I'll have to pay OR income tax unfortunately - but the hospital takes extremely good care of us, and I won't leave unless they take away our 12% no contribution retirement

Not sure how familiar with Washougal you are, but watch the proximity to the MX Park. You don't want to be listening to bouncing rev limiters all the time (especially around the national races in July).

Bend/Redmond. Bend is quickly becoming the next Portland...

Soooo much like. I'm not on FB, but a buddy showed me a page called "Portland looks like shit" (or something like that). It's pretty sad to see what was once a bustling city turn into a complete shit hole. My company is based in PDX and I refuse to go to the main office.

I've lived in WA off and on for 15 or so years. I was born in Everett. I've just been in the desert here long enough that I miss the trees, the rain, and the ocean.

If everything goes to plan, I'd like to keep my Reno home and buy up in WA. Then I can split my time depending on if I need sunshine that week or not

You couldn't pay me enough to live in Vegas. Where I live, NW of Reno, I'm right at 5200 feet tucked up against the Sierra Nevada mountains. Summers still get a bit warm, but we also get sub zero temps and snow in the winter. If the wind was going in the right direction and I spit really hard, I'd almost hit california. I'm right on the border.

This is a 20 minute drive from my house. We've got trees, but it's the high desert trees.

the PNW is pretty, but man....trying to find a job up there seems to be tough. it's like you're either a farmer or work at a coffee shop...haha.
I'm a geologist, so there's some potential...but meh, not really.

and if the bay area was bad in terms of hipsters....Portland is the epitome of it.

Can't get past the 8 months of dreary rainy days...i like to moto...

Bend is rad...i hiked the south sister a while back and did some mtb right outside of town...it's definitely changing tho...i drove through there last summer...could hardly recognize it.

Someday if you can stomach it, watch a movie called "My own private Idaho", it's a film about a couple of street kids in Portland.

That cesspool of a city has been like that since the '80s when I left.
