They really are. And once you hit the lowlands you've got hundreds if not thousands of miles of trails and roads on the BLM land. If you're gonna own a 4x4, NV is not a bad place to do it.

My old Jeep. That's downtown Reno in the background. I'm probably 10 minutes of dirt away from it

I spent a week at Eagle Crest golfing a few years ago. It's sad to see Bend "grow up"

Also, I broke my collar bone on Bachelor in 1986. Back scratcher into a mogul field, then face plant. :bananadead:

My wife, myself and 15 buddies all have memberships at Eaglecrest. We golf 3 or 4 times a week. We used to get passes at Bachelor, but it's becoming a shit show (especially with Covid, parking passes etc). I can't stand being in Bend, too many tourists. Also, wife works at the county clerks office. Close to 20k homes going into Bend THIS YEAR. Can't wait to move to Idaho in a few years and get away from the people.

Hope you're not looking at Boise, otherwise I got bad news for you lol.

All the "small" cities are getting ridiculously built up and over-priced now unless you go way out in the boonies.

Of course there's always Oklahoma or Kansas, but who tf wants to live there

    I don't blame you.

I could probably handle Idaho, but my line of work keeps me in Huntsville, AL. Plus, it's a great place to live.

How do you literally not die in the summer? I've had the privilege(?) of working for two companies that were based out of MS, and when I had to fly into Memphis in August it was like somebody had a hot wet blow dryer on high pointed at my face the entire time.

Some areas are better than others, plus someone invented AC a few years back. Couple that with cold beer or ritas and you get by.

Sadly, yes. Not going to be "in Boise" proper, but within an hour or two. I work for a GC that will be building a new campus for a large tech company (involving books and faces). They haven't decided on the exact location yet, but that general area is in the running...

Sweet. The Whites are pretty amazing. There's a whole lot of off the beaten track stuff you can get into.

Funny thing about that dam work. They year it was completed was a drought year. So where the next 3 years after it. It didn't fill up to the overflow for 4 years. The fishing remained stellar through that whole time as long as you didn't mind walking 500 yards to get to the water. lol

I went up to Laurel Lakes last fall and there was some snow still up there...some dude in jeep had gone off the road i guess...rangers shut it down, but they were cool with me going up to the meadow and lower lake.

If I had to get the TSLA gigafactory, you have to suck it up and accept the Facebook data center.

You can almost always get to the lower lake. From there it's a short walk to the upper lake. I fish it at least 15 times a year. Usually after work mid-week when all the dumb asses are at home. It really is a special lake.
